Although he was a talented luchador, Renato found it difficult to construct a persona that would be hard-hitting enough for the demanding audience of the Pile Tower. After several fruitless attempts (one that was dead boring and another that nearly cost him an eye) Renato decided to follow the advice of his master, Cien Mascaras, and treat himself to an initiatory stay at the Fang Pi Clang Monastery in order to seek inspiration or at the very least a bit of good taste. After a challenging entrance test that he passed with flying colors, Renato was invited into the famous White Lotus Room where he spent the next few months... On emerging, he was the proud owner of a new mask and a new name. Could this be the result of a mystical revelation or demonic possession? In any case, Tengu the luchador has now become a big name on the top of the Pile Tower!

Tengu - 3* Huracan
-3 Opp. Power min 5

Tengu is a very solid addition to Huracan's 3* stocks. And 3* depth is the most important in non T2 formats. Attack manipulation combined with power manipulation is always really strong, either forcing your opponent to overpill to win, whilst removing much risk on your own end. The minimum of 5 is somewhat high, but is not unexpected given how overwhelming the bonus of Huracan can be, especially +14 in round 1 in ELO.

There are only 4 other 3* Huracan worth mentioning when deciding who to pick for your deck: Wonder Lana, El Zombino, Magistrado Ld and oddly enough Rey Mono. Wonder Lana and El Zombino are more aggressive than Tengu, whereas Magistrado Ld is more defensive than Tengu. Tengu occupies a middle ground between the two, being able to both easily win rounds, or forcing opponents into overpilling to attempt to win the round. Rey Mono is also compared, even though he is almost always inferior, but his main niche is he is anti-SOA, especially given how ability-focused El Zombino, Wonder Lana and Tengu are.

Of note is that Gatuchica does almost the same thing as Tengu does, but with one less power and one less damage for one less star. You can use both, or one, but I highly suggest you don't use none in a mono Huracan.

I don't think Tengu is great in half/half decks. His ability isn't strong enough without his bonus, and he doesn't have as much impact as Wonder Lana without the bonus.

Tengu is an A-Tier Huracan, and should be considered in every mono-Huracan ELO and T1 deck.
3* Huracan Tier List
A - Wonder Lana, El Zombino, Tengu, Magistrado LD
B - Lobezna, Rey Mono
C - El Kaktus, Belly Buster

Kinda funny how no one has made this comparison in the comments yet, but he is quite similar to Mona.
The biggest difference is that he is a lot better at handling cards with 8 power or higher, while Mona takes even bigger lead against lower powered cards. smiley

Goodbye Gatuchica... no, actually, I'd use both of you in a deck if I didn't hate Huracan so much.

Yes, this card is a real gem. Yeah, with that ability/bonus combo, you're in for a hell of an annoyance, and it's really hard to stop, even for the luchador-destroying Raptors. And yeah, there's not much that can stop him (Caelus Cr if your opponent has low life, maybe? Eh). But I still hate Huracan with all of my heart because of El Divino and Kinichaw Cr.

Enjoy this card though, Huracan fans. It should be good for ELO.
Oh, yeah, and you can't go wrong with the Tengu legend as inspiration. Good art, Grelin. Hopefully you'll be a mainstay, considering you did the amazing art of Rex Sweig as well.
