When a plane taking prisoners from Clint City to a new jail mysteriously disappeared, the Government was quick to hush it up. The truth is that following a strange breakdown, the plane disappeared into thin air in the Saudi desert to later crash in a lost world where Jurassic wildlife still prospered. Forced to come together under the leadership of Clint City’s two most notorious criminals, the surviving prisoners battled against the hostile environment and ended up climbing the food chain. Now united under the name of the Raptors, the prisoners are back in town with lots of new “friends”. They know full well that their plane was sabotaged and no law is going to stop them in their quest for vengeance!

Review

Deaf Blake - 4* Raptors
8/4 Growth: -1 Opp. Life min 3 (5/6/7/8 Life Gap)

It's hard to really say how good Deaf Blake is. His competition is currently Wilde, who is exceptionally good, July is solid, and Moro who is very situational. How does Blake fit in? Why is he good? But first, his weak points.
Blake has three issues, SOA hurts, his life gap in early rounds is average, and the minimum of 3 hurts his life gap ability in later rounds.
Having a look around the forums, I think Deaf Blake is misunderstood, his purpose isn't to end games, or create leads. Blake is a catch-up mechanic (usually). You save him for the later rounds in the event that you haven't created a lead or outright won yet. Annie did her job, they called your bluff on Zaria, and Lucky couldn't get his killshot through. Doesn't matter, Blake will storm through and secure that win in ELO. Speaking of which, this is the mode Blake will see most benefit in, as Blake does well in low KO potential situations where life gain is a commonly used win condition. The min 3 also matches the Freak's poison bonus.

That is Deaf Blake's purpose, he is to secure a victory if the rest of the fight went the wrong way, he is your insurance policy against damage reduction and life gain. He is not the win/lose threat that Wilde is, he isn't the oppressive revenge force July is, and he doesn't do 7 flat damage that Moro threatens. Deaf Blake is your round 4 win when your initial strategy fails.

Whether Deaf Blake stays in the top 4* Raptors depends on whether UR continues to release ridiculously strong cards, but I don't see him being a major pick when the Raptors start to fill out and get some more reliable cards.

I really like this card, and I think it illustrates an important point that a lot of people still don't seem to have picked up on about growth. Just because a card's ability is growth doesn't mean it has to be played on the last round. Pericles as a 9/7 is still a great card, as is Dianzi as a 9/5 or Aamir with -3 power. Depending on what the situation calls for, you might have to sacrifice a bit of your ability's potency for the sake of keeping your opponent on their toes. Cards like Mildred, Byron, and now Deaf Blake exemplify this concept by requiring the player to strike a balance between playing early in order to get the most of a weak ability and playing late in order to turn a weak ability into a very powerful ability that will do nothing for you. Altogether, this is a great card all around. He's surprisingly versatile for a growth card, and he has two things his clan could really use more of, solid power and some degree of resilience to damage reduction.

Ha! The blind, flame-throwing guitarist from Mad Max Fury Road, only this ones deaf, lol...also duelling banjo boy from Deliverance. Well-played, UR!

Not sure he's the 4-star of choice. I'd still go with July. Maybe throw him in round 3 with fury, then lose with Wilde in round 4? Probably not...smiley

So basicly he was charged with manslaughter?

Wilde is way better. Seriously, who plays this card in round 3 or 4? when you already have done some damage, it's min. 3? What if you lose? smiley

Character loosely based off of blind Blake. An early 20th century American musician.

People actually think this is a good card? Why is everyone talking as if there is a million rounds, there is 4 rounds
First round he is just 8/5, no power/damage protection no SOA or sob. thats not good enough for an elo 4*.
Second round he is 8/6 now this round yes I would use him because I probably won't have brought the opponant to low so his ability will be affective.
3rd round, ability gets interesting 8/7 oh wait opponents is already at 8 lives and I can't bring him below 3 damn sucker ability =useless
Unless you are losing and you decide to fury him and take 9/10 lives in the last round lol, how many times have you tried to get a freaks bonus through and when you do the opponant brings you down to 2 lives? This is exactly that except it will happen a lot more.

Last but not least competition. In my previous comment I said I don't see myself using him, that's because of his competition, Wilde and July both are great and no one can argue that they aren't better, cos they are. And i only sometimes use 3 4* but raptors aren't ready for mono so I wouldn't use him at all.

7/10 but only for players that can't afford July and or wilde

Deaf Blake review;

Pros:
8 power is great.
4 damage is decent (since it's supported by his ability).
His ability of Growth: -1 opp life min 3.
SoA doesn't weaken him in comparison to his base stats.
Artwork is unique.

Cons:
SoA doesn't weaken him, but takes out that really great ability, which kinda sucks.
4-star card, so takes space in decks.
Has competition such as July, Rattle, Faiza, Zaria, Wilde, etc.
DRs can hurt him (but his ability can get through). So, mostly con, but due to his ability, it may not matter.

Overall- 8/10. A really great card if you can use this in your deck due to his ability, despite his small flaws.

Seems Raptors is headed down the "Destroyed by SoA" road. Otherwise, this card's pretty good, but with all these conditional extra-DMG cards that are crushed by SoA, this card probably will only be useful until a much more stable option comes along.

As Jamox said, not as good in the last round because he's min 3, which also means you'll lose out on 1 more round of Growth.

Clint City, night.
