c Ector

Released on Friday 22/10/10

On board ship Ector is in charge of what is arguably the most important and problematic job of all : managing the rum supplies. All it takes is a minor miscalculation on his part for them to set out to sea with too little rum and for full scale mutiny to break out. In order to restore order Bloodh is then obliged to "part company" with some of the crew members (needless to say, in the middle of the ocean).

Ector - 7/2 with-4 opp life, min 3 (ability) and SoB (bonus)

- A nice solid 7 power is always great
- Ector has the potential of 6 damage with his nice ability. Even better, DRs do very little against him.
- His min isn't horrible either, allowing Ector to do 8 damage with fury on round 1ish if he so desired. Not bad for a 3*
- SoB also shuts down painful bonuses like SoA or power manipulation.

- SoA abilities hurt Ector quite a lot,
- Less viable in rounds 3 and 4, generally.

Overall: 8.5/10. Ector is a wonderful little card. Piranas always needs more damage, and Ector provides with a nice sampling of damage. His power is solid. His damage is pretty nice, and SoA abilities aren't overly common or hard to dodge. A very nice card overall.

This has to be, currently, the best ELO allowed 3-star Piranas. Overall, second best 3-star card second only to Smokey Cr.

-Why he is the best ELO allowed 3-star Piranas?-

Well, lets look the previous best 3-star ELO allowed card, Tyd. Sure, Tyd has a great 8 power and a solid 4 dmg. IMO 4-dmg is not that scary, which you always throw in one of the -dmg reduction and most of them can reduce them to 2 dmg some as low as one. Or, you can just let pass, assuming your opponent dosen't have another card that does high dmg allow them a 2-hit KO. And he currently cost about 2k at time this is posted.

Now, lets look at Ector. He is one power lower but with his ability and his dmg he can do a wooping 6 dmg. Thou, he might be a bit less useful towards the end. But, his ability is not neglected by those -dmg reduction. And when it comes to the Piranas they don't have high dmg cards that is lower than 5-star. So, a 3-star card with good power and potential high dmg is a gift to the Piranas. However, Ector's biggest enemy are cards with SOA for ability. Because with Piranas SOB popular clans in ELO like GHEIST and Roots aren't really problem. And there are that many cards with SOA ability. So, if you go play first, you can play Ector first which could force your opponent to use there SOA ability card. Than allow you use some of Piranas cards with deadly abilities like Scubb's +pillz or Dalhia -pillz.

Also the best thing about Ector he only cost 200-300 clintz (at the time of this post); now, compare it to Tyd 2kish price tag.

So, you be the judge of which is the best 3-star Piranas ELO allowed card.

*rate green if you agree

300 clintz, really? for a practical lvl. 3 7/6? Come on.

Ector...yo ho and a bottle of rum ;)

Whilst the reviews on this card are rather good, I think many people still fail to realise the important role this card plays in the Piranas mono ELO deck.

Unfortunately for Piranas, their half deck capacity is average and mono is really the place where they shine...this comes down to a dull uselessness without their abilities and fairly average stats without SOB their to cover them

Now as soon as you step into mono Piranas shoes you'll find 2 things....1. They have a scarily low shortage of Dr's and 2. They don't pack any damage behind their hits

Focusing on the latter Ector gives Piranas exactly what they need! A lower starred card that can actually hurt the opponent rather than 'be solid' or 'annoy them'!!!!! You will almost always be pilling this card simply because the huge 6 life gap is invaluable for Piranas (not to mention the fact its one of the only cards that can stand up vs Spiaghi's and Slyde's)

All good things aside obviously flaws come in a neat package of ability reliance and necessity to pill big to actually get the damage in.

Still this card almost replaces Tyd completely (Dmg>Solidity IMO) but is still lacking behind Taljion and Ulrich if he's ever unbanned!!

A very neat 3*, with a very nice price :) Get this card if your a noob, get this card if your a pro!!!!

He is definitely better than Zeke, being that he has one lower min. and his sob.

Ector - 7/2, -4 Opp. Life Min 3, Stop Opp. Bonus, 3 stars.

Ector fills a very important niche in Piranas - the ability to bring down the opponent's health. Piranas has excellent Pillz manipulation with cards like Hawkins, Hawkins Noel, and Scubb, and some neat tricks to ensure round dominance with cards like Tula and Taljion. However, these cards tend to lack in the damage department - they can still hurt, but sometimes your enemy might be able to sneak an 8 damage in followed by lots of damage reducers to ruin your fun. Piranas does have some hard hitting 5 stars with Selma and Ahkab, and they are relatively easier to fit into a low-starred Piranas deck, but you may not always draw them at the right time.

That's where Ector comes in. With his ability, he can shred Damage Reducers to bits. Previously, Piranas really didn't have a solid solution against Damage Reducers other than trying to win every round. Ector's nice 7 power coupled with Piranas pillz dominance can shred down your opponent's health after achieving said pillz dominance. However, his ability does have one glaring flaw - the min. of 3. Ector will very rarely KO, so many times you want to drop him off ASAP and KO with another Piranas card. The opponent will anticipate this and save his Damage Reducer for later. However, in the new Elo with 14 life, this problem becomes much less significant. Also, SoA abilities will decimate his damage down to a meager 2, becoming a Hawkins that somehow gained an extra star.

Smokey Cr vs. Ector in a deck? I will definitely take Smokey Cr over Ector in T1 Deathmatch, though. However, Smokey Cr is Elo permabanned, so Ector could become a staple in an Elo Piranas deck.

Tyd vs. Ector in a deck? This is more up to a personal opinion and deck type. (Also, if you are new, Ector is much much cheaper, obviously. Tyd isn't too expensive, so it shouldn't be a huge difference for other players) I personally use both in my deck. However, should I ever have to decide between the two, I would take Tyd. Tyd has a solid 8 power and is much more powerful against SoA abilities (8/4 versus 7/2); coupled with his bonus, he can beat Lyse Teria Cr, Jackie Cr, and Hawk in T1 Deathmatch, for example. This solidity of Tyd is important in a clan of extremely ability-reliant cards. If you're using a mono-deck with two 5 stars (Selma and Ahkab?), leaving few room for 3 star cards, then go Tyd. If you're using half-Piranas, and your other half has enough damage, then go Tyd. On the other hand, Ector will find spots on decks that lack damage. But now that Smokey Cr is permabanned, Tyd and Ector could easily be used together in the same deck.
