Nothing equals Pallack’s love of Art but one thing surpasses it - and that’s his love of Money. So he didn’t think twice about sacrificing his code of ethics on the altar of avarice and producing art that was meaningless but all the rage with the Uppers. And with all the money he’s earning, he can now buy paintings by real artists!

As the crème-de-la-crème of the jet-set, the Uppers rule the night. They’ve got it all, and money, champagne and titles are certainly not in short supply. They generally dislike everyone but they particularly despise “the poor who just aren’t the teeniest bit funky”. The Uppers hope that the government will finally take steps to banish ugly people once and for all.

Review #7

Again, stats aren't quite up, so here they are:

Lvl. 1: 2 Power, 1 Damage & Ability at level 3

Lvl. 2: 4 Power, 3 Damage & Ability at level 3

Lvl. 3: 6 Power, 5 Damage & Protection: Damage

Pallack is a disapointment to most who play Uppers. I don't, and on paper he looks a lot better than people are saying. 6/5 with protection damage is pretty good in my opinion. He can 2 hit with Dorian, Herman, and furious Nellie, furious Wayne Stark, and furious Maurice.

Of course the obvious question arises. "Does he replace Rubie?" SOA is hard to come by in Uppers (Jackie being ELO banned & Wendel being courageous) so it depends on your play style. However, 6 power is easier to win with than 5 power, with or without SOA. Anyways, now its Pallack:

Vs. Janine? +1 life per damage doesn't help you get the KO, and makes you weak to SOA. Chalk one up for Pallack. Pallack +1

Vs. Frankie Hi? For one less damage, you can get a bit of a better attack manipulation. Now, Uppers have a really good bonus, beating out Sakrohm, Junkz, and Senteniels, but Rescue and Montana still hive these guys trouble. Frankie Hi takes care of that, and he's more useful than Pallack. +1 Frankie Hi

Vs. Harold? Having a situational -1 opp. power for 1 damage is something I'd take. +1 Harold

Vs. Stanford? Pallack is a tad bit better due to the fact that he doesn't need his ability to be decent, and power = power of opponent is kind of a bad ability anyways. Another one for Pallack. +1 Pallack

Vs. Burt? Burt is a lot more flexible, and a DR in a clan that doesn't have too many decent ones. Burt is needed more than the damage Pallack brings. +1 Burt

Vs. Zatman? No. +1 Zatman

Vs. Rubie? Comes down to personal choice. I like higher powers than decent damage, even though 6 is good for the 2 hit (Something Uppers are famous for). But here I'll give it a draw. .5 both.

Final Scores: Pallack-2.5 Everyone else 4.5

Pallack really doesn't measure up smiley . Quite sad, after the release of Bianca (Who seemed to pop up in every newblood I bought) the Uppers needed a decent 2 star. Wendel is okay, but his ability being courageous is kinda easy to take advantage of. I'm sure theres gonna be lots of sad Uppers players.

Now, for the Pros/Cons:

+ Solid 5 damgage. Can fury 2 hit with most cards, making him okay addition for the Uppers.

+ Almost un-reducable 5 damage. Only SOA DRs (such as Bristone or Yayoi) can reduce his damage.

+ Decent 6 power. Coupled with the Uppers bonus, it's not that bad.

Now for the:

- Compitition. Most other 3 stars beat him out, so I don't see him in too many people's deck.

In the end, it doesn't look like he's worth it. He isn't a jaw dropping card, but he is playable. However, Zatman, Burt, Frankie Hi, ect. are just generally better.

In the end:

Playable, but not really worth it.

(Please rate up so people don't have to go searching for it, not to mention I'll look like a tool)

(Nearly certain lots of people will rate this down to make me look stupid, lol)

Big thanks to Forever-Joshy for pointing out how little structure can be found in my reviews smiley

Alright, now Pallack vs. Oxen:

This one goes to Oxen. While 5 damage with protection sounds nice, 6 damage on the first turns (And maybe third, in ELO) is just a little bit better. But, throw on the extra power, and we have a deal. +1 Oxen.

In the end: Pallack-0 Oxen-1

Oooh, how lengthy smiley .

Anyways, I suppose I'll take this time to clear a misconception. I got some messages from people saying they thought that - life is better than protection damage (They were giving me reasons Oxen was better). However, it's definately not the case. - life makes you much more suceptable to SOA (Which, quite sadly, is rampant). Protection damage can protect against DRs, and not be weak to SOA.

The only time you would want - opp. life over protection: damage, is when facing a damage=damage of opp. card.

And, there you have it. Certainly not a card worth having, I haven't seen it once, and just now I realized how bad it is. I'm expecting it to be a beginner card (Uppers bonus and 5 damage is good early on), but nothing for the hardcore players.

1363 characters, plus this 34.

As a few other people have said, his name is a parody of Jackson Pollock, the famous abstract expressionist painter (sometimes known as 'Jack the Dripper' for his signature style of dripping paint over a canvas.)

The character himself is actually a parody of Pablo Picasso, another famous painter born in 1881 and died in 1973. One the third level the painting/sculpture shown is in the style of cubism, which Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque pioneered. Picasso was also an artist that was famous during his lifetime so he lived very well. There are stories about him going to a restaurant and holding very lavish dinner parties for his friends, with multi-thousand dollar costs. Instead of paying the bill he would do a quick sketch on the tablecloth as payment, and it would work. (Salvador Dali was also rumored to be able to do the same thing)

the guy has 5 damage and protection on it for s 3 star and attack manip is just too strong to pass

Monday 12/09/2011, 01:18

I will have to disagree with everybody about this guy.

Pallack is very good when observing him under some aspects;

Zatman is Elo banned, so 1 less competition.

Burt is deffensive, and I don´t see Uppers deffending so much.

Frankie Hi is a good competition, but the 1 more dam. being irreduceable for me is better for Pallack.

For me there are only two cards that can be a real competition for him: Oxen and Rubbie.

Oxen is better (personally) more power and good life removing.

Rubbie I can´t decide, so You make a decision and tell me what you think later.

c'mon jackson has worse bonus, and you can see jackson review. I often targeting DR and soa cards with jackson. most of DR are weak, so 6 power is okay for lv.3. between pallack and oxen? use them both, i dont know about katrina, but this cord is cool...

I think I'm in the minority here, but I prefer Pallack to both Rubie and Oxen.

I know that sounds weird, since Rubie and Oxen have been the staple Upper 3-stars for so long, but after using Pallack in ELO, I much prefer him.

It's all about stability. At least, that's how I try to run my decks. SOB runs rampant in ELO, which severely limits Rubie. And Oxen has that ridiculously high minimum on his -life ability (min 5). That min 5 has cost me more than one round. As soon as I switched to Pallack, well, that was no longer a problem.

And don't underestimate those Protection abilities. Sure, they aren't fancy, but they don't need to be. It's there to offer stability. With all those SOAs and SOBs running around in ELO, a little stability goes a long way.

I don't know about mono decks, but for my Freaks/Uppers half deck, I choose Pallack and Frankie Hi over the more famous staples.

I just bought all the Pallack's and now the market won't let me shift them.

It says...
We are sorry but no characters have been put on sale on the Market. Check that you are not trying to sell too many characters from your current Deck.

But there are no Pallack in my deck.
