As the crème-de-la-crème of the jet-set, the Uppers rule the night. They’ve got it all, and money, champagne and titles are certainly not in short supply. They generally dislike everyone but they particularly despise “the poor who just aren’t the teeniest bit funky”. The Uppers hope that the government will finally take steps to banish ugly people once and for all.

Lydia could be a nod to the animated film, Anastasia, which was about a common teenage girl who discovers she's the last surviving member of the Russian royal family. She also had to learn how to act like a noble and fell for a lower class ruffian like Lydia did.

Did anyone else see the half Uppers/Berserk background when she appeared in the character release page ?
Could it be a simple fluke Ur did, or are we gonna meet her "dead" uncle, which is a Berserk ?

A parody of Mia Thermopolis from The Princess Diaries.

Funnily enough in the book she is princess of Genovia which is a made-up country. Lydia is from Poldachie-Golgovine (which is one of those made-up eastern Europe countries).

The Princess Diaries is a book (adapted into a Disney film with Anne Hathaway) and follows the story of an average teenager who finds out she is the heiress of the Genovian throne.

Possible inspirations:
Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna of Russia - Anastasia
Princess Mia Thermopolis - Princess Diaries
Rose DeWitt-Bukater Dawson Calvert - Titanic

Uppers has vulnerability of one sort against SoB clans. Especially Nightmare can deliver big pain to Uppers.

Lydia is cure for that. She gives +10 attack modification against SoB clans. That means few nice things.

1) You ruin the pill counting by having one character that pulls you over the average.
2) SoB Opponents will be very tempted to let Lydia trough, making her great bluff card.

Lydias ability is not totally useless against decks with one or two SoB-abilities. Opponent wont throw their SoB's during Lydia's turn... that means you can mentally eliminate what choices opponent will do and at what turns, making opponent play more predictable... and that is very good thing.

Oh. And the card itself. Its card that will be 98% of the time 7/4 card with +10 attack bonus. That makes this card to be slightly above average even if its ability is "useless" in match.

Bottom line is... If you have played Uppers seriously you have noticed how easy clan it is to play. It is so easy you could beat opponents with worser deck.... this is where Lydia's place is. you can afford to tune down Uppers overpowerness to secure your deck against the worst enemy of Uppers - the SoB clans.
