Rules: ELO

** Must be Level 15 or over**

1.) Deck composition: 25 Stars Max

Deck composition in ELO is very important in order to succeed in the game. You can either play using a mono-clan (single clan) or bi-clan (two clans). The option is very open and wide for you to pick from, so let your imagination go wild.

→ 1.1) Mono-Clan deck

Many players will go with a mono clan deck if some of their cards are support dependent. What does this mean?

Support ability/bonus - If your card have Support ability/bonus, it will benefit from having other cards from the same clan in your draw.

If using cards like John with ability "Support: Power +1" and you have 3 other card from Sentinel clan in your draw then John's Power increases by 4

→ 1.2) Bi-Clan / 2 Clan decks

In order to make a good deck using 2 different clan decks, you need to ensure to have a well balanced combination. For this to be effective, consider factors such as ability, power, bonus and clan combinations.

Let's explore on this a bit more, Many ELO players I've seen would use combinations like Freaks / Pussycats , Roots / Sakrohm , GHEIST / Sakrohm and many more.

The big question is - how do I know which clans work best with each other?
Unfortunately, there's no specific answer to this question. As I always tell players, it all depends on the strategy when using them.

For example:
[ Freaks / Pussycats ] Strategy: Poison + damage = reduces opponent's life to atleast 3, therefore, Freaks will be used as offence, while the Pussycats will be the defence. Add the ability of cards like Malicia (with + 1 life max 15 when defeated)then you MAY have a good advantage over your opponent

I can go on and on about deck combinations and still would not be able to help everybody find the right combo for them. It would be best if you seek specific advice by posting here in the forum. That way, the other ELO players may be able to assist you with your queries.

→ 1.3) Remember the ELO banned cards: Staff + Player voting system

All cards banned for ELO will be listed here http://www.urban-rivals.com/game/elo/banned_characters.php

2.) Game play strategy

→ 2.1) Pillz use

You can use pillz to multiply your character’s power to the get total attack in your battles. Remember the highest attack wins, so use your pillz wisely.

• You will start off with 12 pillz. It is your decision how you want to spread this out with all your 4 characters in your draw.

• You can also use pillz to add +2 damage to your character by activating “FURY”

A word of advice:
"The most important thing about pillz use is to anticipate how your opponent will play based on your draw and your opponent’s draw...It is not advisable to play 0 pills in your first round each time but do not overpill (more than 6 pills) except in some special occasions. This is because you might face several opponents who 0-1 pill in their early rounds. Hence you must take care that you always use your pills wisely and plan out the game.

Also, if your opponent has 0 pilled round 1 and you have put in 4-5, make sure that you have created sufficient life difference in that round to actually threaten to seal the victory in round 2. Make a relation between the damage you make and the pills you use. Try to not pill too much on cards that do not create a major life gap. This will help your game"

→ 2.2) Strategies

→ 2.2.1) Bluff

Knowing an effective way to bluff is important in all aspects of the game. “A bluff is trying to make your opponent believe you are going to play the obvious way but instead you play offbeat.”

→ 2.2.2) Letting cards through

In your fights you need to weigh if it is worth wasting your pillz trying to beat a very power card or just let it through. Keep in mind that many people might use these cards as a bluff to make you waste your pillz.

→ 2.2.3) Offensive vs defensive game style

In your fight you can either choose to be an offensive player or a defensive one or a combination of both. Offensive game play is done when you use your cards assertively in a battle ensuring you win with these cards. Defensive game play is often played with cards with (- damage as an ability/bonus).

→ 2.3) Taking the Draw

Often times, matches can be guaranteed draws (when both players finish round 4 with the same number of life points). By taking this opportunity, you can avoid losing a lot of points, however you also cannot win lots. This tactic, when used in moderation, can help save you from dropping a lot of points and keep pressing on towards your next ELO goal.

Hello everybody,

I stopped playing a long time ago and I found my self with my collection increased in value. Now I have a 100k budget to invest, and the playing mode I like the most is ELO.

What I am asking to you is how to spend these clintz properly. Not only buying a deck but a set of cards that can make me competitive every week. Even suitable for tournaments with minor changes. I hope to have any suggestion. Thanks.

Hey hey hey

This Week in ELO ...

All Stars: Marina & Saki
Fang Pi Clang: Kerozinn Cr
Frozn: Ruru
La Junta Isatis & Pilzken
Montana: Mona
Nightmare Oshitsune
Pussycats: Diana
Rescue: Campbell
Riots: Dr Copernica
Sakrohm: Jautya

Junkz: Qubik
Rescue: Kerry
Roots: Curlix & Tuck
Ulu Watu Wee Lee

After 3 weeks (or 4? .-.), The All Stars will return in the shadows most of the time with Marina and Saki prohibited! Some people will surely be happy

the Mono La Junta remain absent with Isatis and Pilzken still banned.

Ruru returns to the list of prohibited the Frozn lose a very good card and it's a shame but ...it still a good idea

Oshitsune is ban then the nightmares are going to be less present compared to theprevious week.

The Pussycats lose Diana . They always have Mercury, Lucy, but without Diana it is not the same.

The GHEIST lose their monster called Rolph . It hurts for this clan this week ; however, the Roots, they found back Curlix and Tuck!

woah Kerry is returned ! Will it be enough for a rise of mono Rescue?

The Ulu Watu found Wee Lee ! the silver surfer in elo will spread his ability !

The Junkz found Qubik, we have the right to More Junkz too.

To finish, a small reminder for Jungo: Ongh is still at large! y'all Enjoy it!

So here's the thing, most of the time people take so much time to play to make your opponent to lose due to time-out. So why not change it to 30-60 second time limit. But is it a good thing or a bad thing?

Hello UR Community !!!

As the title suggests, I have just taken my first step into ELO mode and I think it goes without saying that I am sucking BIG TIME !

However, I do believe that I know what my disadvantages are and I would love to hear how I can solve them and improve myself as a player.

Before I attempted ELO mode, I played only Type 1 and danger zone etc. using just a 5 star Mono Nightmare clan. This should obviously tell you that I am in no way familiar with other clans ... as well as the lower star members of my beloved Nightmare clan

Therefore, ELO has come as a bit of a shock with all the tactics involved etc. and I was just hoping for some tips or help to allow me to progress in this game mode. I really love Urban Rivals, but I feel that I am miles behind all the more experienced players. So please, can you throw some help my way ? Thank you !

I really don't think Round 3 is fair to people who play this game.
Why? Give someone 1 DR and 1 card that can win the game and you have an instant 50/50
So what's the problem? Just predict them!
That will not always work, not everyone will do the same thing ,not everyone will be predictable, and usually that is PURE LUCK.
TCG 's and OCG's are supposed to be about skill , not luck and Round 3 frequently saps your skill and replaces it with luck.
SO WIN BY TURN 2 / Win the first two rounds (!)
Seems like a great idea in theory ,but there are always people who zero pill or low pill so when you're trying to win those opening rounds and succeed , you might put yourself in the lead, but they'll have a relatively easy chance to catch up. While that strategy isn't bad and won't always be low / zero pillers facing off against you, it isn't an acceptable solution.
My Proposal?
The person who is BEHIND in life should be given the choice of having the turn be a Reprisal Turn or Courage Turn for them , regardless of whether the turn would be courage based or not.

-Would this overpower courage / reprisal? No, because most of those abilities aren't overpowered to begin with.
-How is that fair?? Because by giving the option, this lowers the chances of the person behind in life and gives them the ability to use reprisal , courage , SOA and DR cards efficiently.
-Wouldn't this make SOA / DR even more broken? I don't think so, not unless you're counting on always being behind on/by Round 3

Hi all,

I have seeing lately, around in 80% of my ELO games, that people use the lame tactic of not pilling at all the first and second cards used, using only low star cards or DRs, and save pillz for the latter to make a shot with high-damaging cards.

Not that I am complaining, that makes the game very predictable and I like to use Freaks and Pussycats decks so I'm prone on creating big large gaps and leave them with a moron face for not pilling. But man, I swear during all this day I have seen it in 4 out of 5 matches played, and it's begginin to be more tiresome than having to face La Junta and Rescue mono-decks every single game.

Is it only me which I am seeing things?

I'm getting Sick and Tired of a few overpowered for their star count cards, so I'm going to say my piece on the cards by clans, starting with :
La Junta
Frankly, I feel these guys from La Junta are frequently very hard to work around.
This card is ridiculously good, at 7 / 3 with -4 DR for TWO STARS
And she is in a damage manip clan to make things worse, every time I see this card, it usually spells a big problem.
She isn't like the other 2 Star DR's who is a -2 Minimum 1 or -3 Minimum 2 on some occasions . No , she is -4 Minimum 2 and can him for 3 to 5 damages. . . for 2 Stars. . which IS a problem when paired with Pillzken , Isatis and Thormund .
4 Stars for 9 / 8 after you factor her ability and bonus
Which well . . . that's not much fun when they have teammates like Scooty the 7 / 4 2* Attack Manip , Thormund at 11 Power , Trish the 5 / 7 -3 Min 1 Power Reducer and Sabia the wonder DR . Then factor in Pillzken , Brianna and Arnie and you've got killer combos . All of these cards commonly see play as well in La Junta , have 7 or 8 Power ( OR higher / equivalent to 8 ) Even if they bluff Isatis , her teammates are more than capable of picking up her slack.
7 / 8 who brings everything without Protection Power Below him and requires stronger Power Manips to take him down. Efficient as a bluff , mono friendly , and has more than enough replacements , this card is just a ridiculous bonus Cherry on the cake.

Since the last thread I tried this on ended about as well as World War 1, let's try this again.

The La Junta are a clan in Urban Rivals that have some good cards. Some of these cards are so good, in fact, that people ban them in the weekly Elo elections. Do you use these cards regularly? Do you play La Junta when some of their cards are banned? What sort of decks adjustments do you do when a card you use is banned? Do you have any advice about what to use for La Junta in Elo, either mono or half decks?

If anyone talks about how someone should denote power reduction, I will rent a tiger and set it loose in your bed as you sleep.

The title says it all! Last election everyone's favorite ~11/8 was BANNED FROM ELO MODE!!!! (temporarily).

If you played Pilzken + Mono-Junta before the ban, what will you do? Will you sub in Raven? Ray? Or will you put in a smaller card and upgrade one you already used?

If you didn't play Pilzken + Mono-Junta, then feel free to call everyone who did a "noob", "idiot", or "scrub" (your choice) and say they should "Get out of your Urban Rivals". Feel free to blame them for the death of your aunt as well.

Have at it, folks!

Pussycats half-deck are one of the best decks out there. Besides from having defensive capabilities, they are good in attacking too... Now here's the problem.. A lot of times all the good half-deck staples are always banned and that's not all. All the best 3 stars are banned. Why am I here? Well, I'm wondering if someone like me would actually suggest to unban any 1 of them.

I'm not against Noemi or Jayzel. They're a good substitute but they are still lacking, and I don't know what it is.. maybe they lack flavor? Anyway.. would someone actually agree with me?

Hi guys ! Well I didn't login around an year and lol such a surprise. The "cheat" "bug" or whatever when other guy can see how much pillz you put at each of your cards each round is still active... And it's happen from start at 1000 elo lol. At least go fair to 1300 and start cheating there. Like 1/4 games I see a guy that enjoy put just few more attack over me. Play 1 pillz card for fun and overmatch me when I pillz again or just play again 1 pillz card for fun against my bluff.

It was active on 2011-2012...2013..now 2014.

"You are a member since Tuesday 12/06/07" yeee I am a member since 7 years and honestly as you can see my level and low number of games I stop played in 2010-2011 around.
Anyway it's sad when peoples spend their money and can't play at fair game. So as member since 7 years that's my recomendation - don't spend your money at this conditions.

Have fun !

Not everyone has deep pockets and want to get into ELO. This deck is under 20k(need two LDs) but really good. If you don't have the LDs you can easily swap them(will raise the cost a little more).

enjoy all new players and experienced players
