r Lizbeth

Released on Friday 07/09/12

Many pirates have tried to steal the breathtaking treasure of Aquanis, but the majority of those who have tried have never been seen again, or have finished up like Scubb from the Piranas, cursed for ever more… However, legend has it that a pirate by the name of Lizbeth managed to steal some Aquanian ivory at a banquet given by Queen Naliah. The pirate slipped a sleeping potion into the wine being served, plunging all the guests into deep, deep slumber. Now, when fighting, she flaunts her trophy in the form of a sword, shaped like a spinal column and endowed with unusual strength.

Lizbeth - 6/4 with Power and Damage +3 (ability) and Stop Opp Bonus (bonus)

- With ability active, she becomes a 9/7 monster; that 9 power is pretty damn good considering her clan generally lacks in power.
- 2HKO's with many clanmates like Raeth, Scubb, Coleridge and even ulrich
- She gets her ability from her starting level (level 2) if you care.
- The SOB from her clan bonus repels SOA from GHEIST and Roots, so all you have to worry about is facing SOA abilities.

- Competition. You could make more use out of dahlia or even Ahkab than with Lizbeth and work yourself to a pillz advantage.
- Not the best synergy with clanmates. Piranas are all about pillz manipulation, Lizbeth doesn't have that going for her. All she is is a powerhouse.
- 5* is a lot of space in ELO. It's a risk you must be willing to make to fit her into your ELO deck (this doesn't apply to extended).
- Cliche "soa destroys this card". It's worse with Lizbeth because it leaves her with incredibly lame stats. Continuing on from the previous point, there's usually at least 1 SOA card in any ELO deck, and if it hits Lizbeth well... that was a waste of a 5*.
- Not too big of a con because most cards aren't, but no DR resistance.

Overall: 8.5/10
With her scary potential stats, you can force an SOA card from your opponent's hand and use another heavy hitter in your deck to finish off an opponent, so she has that going for her at least. She's by no means a bad card, she's just not any better than a few of the other 5* in the clan, and definitely not a 9.5-10/10.

Overpowerd? Where? In T2, where Piranas are very weak clan and cards like Jackie Cr or Hawk kills you? Or in Elo, where almost everyone has a SoA ability in his deck so you end up crouching in the corner, hoping your precious 5* won't turn into a 6/4?

Lizbeth's pretty freaking good, you're all underrating her. She's a much hated card for no good reason.

•"OMG SoA kills her." She's a Pirana, so her bonus keeps her away from most forms of SoA. SoA abilities? Play her in a turn without them then. Oshitsune is a card crippled by SoA, and you don't see people claiming he sucks. In fact, this card is Oshitsune + 2 power.
•"Copper vs SoA doesn't lose his 8 damage!!!!!!!" Well, he keeps his 4 power. Good luck getting in that "untouched" Damage in. Copper is more vulnerable to SoA too, because his bonus doesn't protect him from it.
•"She's too one-dimensional." No. No ELO cards are one-dimensional, only players with one-dimensional mindsets. Kolos is far from one dimensional. He's not just a bluff or a OHKO, as inexperienced players think. He can do unexpected damage mid game, rip up your opponent's life up. Same with Shirley. You can play her in many ways. Need to start the game with a bluff? 0 pill Lizbeth, watch your opponent get out their Mokra with 7 pills. Trying to punish a bluff with 7 damage? Lizbeth. Drain/gain pillz, reduce your opponent's defenses, then end it with Lizbeth. 9/7 SoB is destructive.
•"She takes no skill to use, she's all brawn and no tactics." This is stupid, honestly. Having high power does not equate to being simple to use, uncreative and such. Fancy abilities like "Defeat: Heal and Poison x, min y" seem to delude players into thinking they're some creative genius by playing cards without simple abilities like Power +2. It makes no difference. This is not a military war where what you read from Sun Tzu applies. High power and damage is just as tactical, and just as effective, as cards with Pill mechanics.
•"She's not a pill manipulator, therefore she cannot work with her clan!" Jesus, guys. She doesn't fit into a clan theme or stereotype automatically makes her bad? In fact, having an actual hard hitter in the Piranas is good. Another 5* pill manipulator is just going to make things repetitive, boring, and ineffective. Piranas needed their Beeboy, their Dorian, their Askai, and they finally have her.

All in all I say she's a 9.2/10, easily the best 5* in Piranas ELO. Anyone who cares to argue is blinded by the mainstream hate geared toward Lizbeth.

I think we should transfer this card to Roots

Lizbeth, Lizbeth, Lizbeth...why am I reminded of Pirates of the Carribean?

Anywho I'm just going to say it....I don't really like Lizbeth at all....oh and no it's not cause she's so damn expensive although I'm not a fan of the whole 'let's manip her price cause we're rich attitude'....sigh

This card is basically an upgrade of Pesth....What I mean by that is, just like him, Lizbeth is an 'I pill and hit for alot of damage...be afraid' kind of card....unfortunately this is not what Piranas are all about. If i felt like bowling through my opponent with copious amounts of damage I'd use Fang Pi or La Junta

I'm not denying that a 9/7 isn't something to be reckoned with...honestly it's powerhouse stats...v scary and if you don't have an SOA card she's going to just stomp on cards heads..the issue is her lack of synergy with her clan

Piranas are all about controlling pillz, strategically hitting your opponent, and finally rendering it so they simply can't beat you due to the pill disadvantage they have...they aren't a 'hurr hurr let's just pill big' kind of clan....but Lizbeth is geared towards that angle...she is the definition of 'Herpette Herpson' for the Piranas

In the end it's up to you if you prefer Lizbeth....do you want another card that sucks against SOA? I know i prefer Dhalia and Selma simply because they are 'Oh crap how many pillz is he going to use with that annoying card' over a 'Herp de derp, another big hitter I'm afraid of damage and stuff'

Lizbeth is the new Miss Clint City 2012.

Do you know that Quirkilicious has now won 2 times in a row with Stella and Lizbeth being voted as Miss Clint City?

Okay, Devs, I really have no idea how to feel about Lizbeth here.

Sure, she's a gorgeous card drawn by Quirkilicious(Quirk and wiki links):

That's good artistry, mmmmm-MM!

But the problem is that Liz here is a bit of a dichotomy. The Piranas are not really a Power House clan, the Piranas are more the clan that leaves you "Damned if you do, damned if you don't" with Pillz manipulation. You win, they gain Pillz to kill you in the end game. You lose, your Pillz are gone and you can't fight in the end game. The Piranas are based around forcing people to make a bad decision, and the Stop Opposite Bonus just really makes a bad situation worse.

I'm a Pussycats player, so trust me on that.

The typical Piranas Ability is also something you really don't want to have kick into effect, sometimes causing a person to purposely lose a Round of combat just to avoid those Defeat: Ability effects. In the end of a match, being beaten by a Piranas deck makes you feel like you just lost a game of chess, like your opponent out thought you. Vexing, but you gotta have respect for the guy that beat you.

Lizbeth here, she doesn't fall into that "chess strategy" style of gameplay. Her stats and Ability are too straightforward for that. As straightforward as a "I'm gonna punch you in the face and take all your lunch money" mentality. That is what she is, and that is all she is. She is the Piranas version of Kolos, and her use in game play is going to be just as one dimensional.

Pillz up and punch through, or try to trick your opponent into Pillzing up to block a fake out. Except even at max damage, you will never score a one hit KO. So it becomes a gamble on a single card which, when the gamble fails, the loser will rage quit with tears in his eyes because he didn't get his way.

Don't look at me like that. I know all of you have had an opponent who failed their 1HKO Kolos attack rage quit your match to find easier prey, too. Annoying, isn't it?

Sure, in a Piranas deck with their superior Pillz manipulation skills you can be a little less frugal on your Pillz for a card like this, but that still doesn't change the fact that she does not really fit with the style of gameplay the Piranas have built up so far.

Okay, shifting gears now, I'm gonna look at Lizbeth from a purely mechanical point of view. Should everything go well (how often do things go well in a match?), Lizbeth is a perfect finisher, and is a good 2 hit KO candidate. The Stop Opposite Bonus of her clan can be just as deadly as her raw damage stats.

I'm a Pussycats player, so trust me on that.

As a 5 Star card, her natural stats are really just "Meh" and even though tons of people claim this about cards where the saying is completely unfounded, Liz really is nothing much without her Ability. But the flip side of that is that her Stop Opposite Bonus means she's not automatically taken out of the game by GHEIST and Roots decks. But her natural stats are still too weak as a Rare card. If she was a 7/5 +2 Power and Damage then the case would be altered, she'd be a far better card.

But then again, her Ability is just a flat out increase in destructive power. She becomes a bit stronger, and hits harder. No tactics involved at all, just a brawny reliance on Pillz to break through the enemy's ranks. But with the Piranas Pillz manipulation, this could be a viable strategy if played right. But there is still that problem of being nothing but brawn in a game that has become all about the Skills, to the point where there is a clan that really IS all about the Skeelz. In the end, if there is a Stop Opposite Ability on the table, you're playing a game of Hide and Seek with Lizbeth, even more so than with any other Piranas card.

Lizbeth is a card that can be said to be, "Great if it's done right, terrible if it's not." But as a 5 star card, the Piranas have others with an equal and lower star count that don't have the possibility of being completely shut down and failing to accomplish anything aside from wasting Pillz should an attack fail (and that's not even bringing Damage Reducers into the equation).

Lizbeth is a bloody beautiful one trick pony, but that's all she is no matter how you groom her. She does one thing, and she may be able to do it well if you have the right situation, but for the star count and the inflated price, you're better off using someone else in your deck.

The only reason she's so expensive is that her card is hard to get in packs. Thorpah is already half as expensive as Lizbeth. Liz won't get any cheaper, so only buy her is you actually intend to use her in a deck. She's not worth the cash for the sake of collecting, especially when I provided art links above.

WMDuessel is right on the money. Liz is in no way "against the clan's ethos" or an unintelligent brute. The intelligence comes with /how/ you play powerhouse cards like this.

She's a wonderful card for a clan who can be a little short on damage at times. Pill manipulation makes your opp wary of overspending, but they won't want to let 7 damage through either. A fine mix indeed!
