On board ship Ector is in charge of what is arguably the most important and problematic job of all : managing the rum supplies. All it takes is a minor miscalculation on his part for them to set out to sea with too little rum and for full scale mutiny to break out. In order to restore order Bloodh is then obliged to "part company" with some of the crew members (needless to say, in the middle of the ocean).
