In a distant future, a prophet revealed to the menacing Dregn that an alliance of the descendants of the Clint City Clans would bring about the downfall of his evil empire and an end to his reign of terror. To put a stop to this defeat, Dregn has sent his best fighters to eradicate the problem at its source, that is 10,000 years earlier, at a time when the clans are at their most divided.

~Vortex Guide~
Even though they are a new clan, Vortex can hold their own just as well as any other. All of the basic needs to build a successful deck are filled. From damage reduction (Neloe) to power reduction (Lehrg & C Beast) to attack manipulation (dagg & Deea) to life drain (Sunder & Dregn) to life steal (Oflgn) to SoA/SoB (Onyx & Kobalth) to raw stats (heegrn & Lovhak) to poison (Cyb Lhia), the Vortex clan does indeed have it all. And all these cards are usable! However, their strength lies in pill manipulation. Vortex seems to be a mirror image of the Piranas clan. Their manipulation come through their abilities while the Vortex manipulation is via bonus. Also, Piranas rely on winning to get the effects while Vortex needs defeats. Either way, the point is to get a big enough pill advantage to land a fatal blow. One thing the Vortex do lack though is a slew of completely original cards. Most of them resemble some other character we have already seen, with the exception of C Wing whose double defeat is a new trick. Anyway, like I did with the Piranas (but also unlike since Vortex is about short combos while Piranas are all about the big picture strategy), here is a guide on some effective ways to use the Vortex clan...
-Combo 1: Gap & Block
This is a strategy commonly seen used with Jungo. All it takes is one big win with Askai or Nahema + a couple dr's and victory should be assured. This same trick works with Vortex. With some heavy hitting gappers like Oflgn, C Beast, and Dregn + reducers like Neloe and C Wing (who is effectively a damage reducer), I find this combo to work very well with the Vortex. This is especially so because if you loose on your big gap hit, you now have an enormous pill advantage usually leading to a win anyway. This is one of the forking options for the Vortex.
-Combo 2: Vengeance
This combo strategy revolves around C Wing. At 2 stars, this makes it easy to fit in a Dregn or C Beast. It works pretty much as the title suggests: loose with C Wing and then blow your load with Dregn or C Beast for the KO. If you played it right, the KO should go through, but if your opponent is able to beat it somehow you get a refund of pills. This yet another forking option, which seems to be a common theme when playing Vortex. However, when attempting this KO, try to avoid being predictable as much as possible since the whole plan is shot to hell when hit with SoA. Also, don't forget about Lehrg. After a loss with C Wing (thus revenge is activated), a 6/6 with -2 opp power is a force to be reckoned with. I highly recommend using Vortex in half decks so pretty much any revenge based or 8 damage card is a good combo with C Wing.
-Combo 3: Ninjas from the Future!
Build a half deck with Vortex and Fang Pi Clang and the game becomes almost unfair. Fang Pi Clang are the masters of the OHKO (Kinjo, lost hog, Lao Cr) so all it takes is one round to win. Let's say you loose with a couple of Vortex at 0 pills; from there, i think you can manage a 1 hit KO with 15 pills. Furthermore, if one of those is C Wing, you don't even need fury. Not only that, but Fang Pi Clang has an excellent fork of their own in Tsubame. Imagine facing Chan + Tsubame + C Wing + Oflgn, a very possible hand to face even in elo.
-Combo 4: Space Jam!
Ok, so Vortex are not martians (the Sakrohm are from space), but an All Stars - Vortex combo deck can be very effective. This is because their bonuses gel so well. All Stars have -2 opp power which thrives in large pill battles. Vortex have generally lower power but pill recovery, which makes them more ideal in low pill battle situations. Basically, All Stars are unstoppable when you have pills and Vortex insures that you always will have pills with their defeat bonus. Say you've got robb and Randy and El Gringo; add that to your favorite combination of Vortex cards and you've got a pretty good deck in the making.
-Combo 5: Play It Straight
Like I said with Piranas, Vortex have solid enough cards to match up with pretty much any other clan. However, their bonus doesn't aid them in battle in any way. If you have to win the round now, you'll be in trouble. This makes winning the match ups of your choosing more difficult and subject to what your opponent does. The good thing is that you can bluff without really bluffing. Put 2 pills on to get a full refund if you loose (2 from recovery, 1 free) and your opponent will still loose if they think you are bluffing. This isn't really a combo and not the best strategy for Vortex players, but it can work.
Vortex clan lets you be a mind gamer. It doesn't allow as much pill battle control as the Piranas as their bonus acts more as an insurance buffer. For now, I'd say that they are best played in the half deck setting as mono Vortex is very unstable due to them being new. I recommend for beginners because of cheapness (except Dregn) and mistake forgiveness. I expect this guide to someday become obsolete with new releases.

Here is an Idea for the Vortex Legendary:

C Tank:

Now that Dregn has arrived in Clint City, and has made himself feel welcome, he is ready to bring in his next line of glass soldiers; C Tanks. These fearsome creatures see no good, hear no good, do no good. Dregn has finally honed in on their powers to make them killing machines. The bad part is that they don't take orders very well, and for all of the residents of Clint City, beware...

Level 1:
1 Power-4 Damage
Ability: Unlocked at Level 4
Bonus: Defeat: Recover 2 Pillz Out Of 3
(Is a Glass Tank, looking to the left, starting to turn into a humanoid form.)

Level 2:
4 Power-4 Damage
Ability: Unlocked at Level 4
Bonus: Defeat: Recover 2 Pillz Out Of 3
(Does an Optimus Prime thing and shows upper Torso sticking out like a centaur from a Tank.)

Level 3:
4 Power-6 Damage
Ability: Unlocked at Level 4
Bonus: Defeat: Recover 2 Pillz Out Of 3
(Shows the centaur-C Tank crushing buses and little Vortex, Vortexes.)

Level 4:
6 Power-6 Damage
Ability: Courage: +4 Power
Bonus: Defeat: Recover 2 Pillz Out Of 3
(Shows him rampaging out of control.)
Rate green if you like the idea, also, with him, (or it), the Vortex would have a C card of each rarity, and ELO usable level.

Vortex ~ Futuristic Rulers

-High power (Cyb Lhia, Butch, Krung etc.)
-Pill Recovery always helps you win
-Attack manipulation (Dagg, Deea)
-Very playable in ELO, not a single ban as of yet
-The newest clan spotted in Clint City
-EPIC Leader

-Lowish damage (Cyb Lhia, Butch Krung etc.)
-Lack of good DR for ELO (Neloe isn't great, people)
-Lack of Support cards make them weak in mono (hint, hint UR Staff!)
-SoA hurts bad (All except for 'Stop' cards like C Blade, Izsobahd etc.)

What with all the great 2* and beastly 4~5*, Vortex could develop into a staple ELO clan.
Rate Up for some Support cards and better DR :-d
