Urban Rivals, in it's current state, has made some good choices and bad choices (I'd say the bad choices are more see-able and overshadow the good choices)
I will tell you this...
-Levels don't matter
-ELO is unbalanced
-Urban Rivals population has not changed in size, at least in a good way.
-Deathmatch is a completely useless mode now. (Used to be the room you would mission now)
Just to point out some of the bad things about UR. What would you change about UR to make it a game that could keep new and upcoming players while keeping older players happy?
Well tourneys basically give a free credit as long as you put 10-20 minutes into it. Maybe a function to choose your own teammate?
I think UR really needs more community input, and not just the best players or event-winners. Ideas like card design, artwork, even music. They can be done through events.
I also like the idea of "custom art." If you've played games like Heroes of Newerth or League of Legends, you would know that the characters can have alternate models (sometimes paired with different lore, sound effects, etc.) I wonder if UR could implement this for other cards, sort of give the game some flavor. For example, a custom Tony Semedo-drawn Jackie Cr, or a Halloween-themed Dregn, etc.
The community is too spread out between too many game modes. Take out DM and Duel, make some new solo missions that you don't need credits to unlock, and try to bring an influx of new players in since that's also lacking. Standard formats are pretty barren and DM is completely barren as is. Which isn't too bad until you figure out that there's players in those rooms that could be otherwise engaged in other rooms and that some LD missions require DM play for some odd reason.
Agree with the more leaders and story mode maybe,
I would like some things for the guild though such as
- More guild ranks aside from recruit,admin, guild founder (ideas general, specialist, cofounder...) I think this would give players in a guild incentive to be more active.
-more guild bonuses
- a way to continue to rank in activity when you reach lvl 28
-missions that can only be done in a guild.
-a button that lets you donate to the guild that can only be used in guild events and also a way to link the guild events with a guild.(lots of coding probly have to make a new type of event)
- a room for only lvl 100+ to Chill
- room where you can team battle (mentioned above)
- room where guilds are each a team and the guild who ends with the most points at the end of the week gets prizes based on each members participation.
- a room where you can bet the opponent on the match any amount or Clint's (cards?)
- a room where you battle for an hour winners fat some amount of slot machine tix.
More event customization options would be amazing. For instance, the deck format editor while amazing, can still use some tweaks, such as, perhaps forcing a player or groups of players to use specific deck formats, or the addition of "Card X must be a part of the deck" as opposed to "Deck can only contain Card X". Among other tweaks to the deck format creator.
Furthermore, there should be a way to have an event do options like, 2v2 fighting (as mentioned earlier in this thread), however only in events. This could mean that players can choose their partners removing the chances that you are paired with someone that doesn't understand your language, strategies or the meta game.
Other small tweaks that would save my time greatly when trying to find cards in my collection would be to add the option of "View recently added cards" which shows cards added to a collection in the last 24-48 hours.
Another interesting way to improve the collection interface could be to add a self marking system, or a favourite system in one player's personal collection to Mark cards and then view all the marked cards in their collection.
Finally, I'd like to have the ability to rearrange the game modes on the playing interface to suit my personal needs. I.e. no need to have certain rooms come out first if I don't use them. Or an option to view all available rooms without scrolling left or right.
However I'd stay clear of adding certain rooms as that separates the amount of players per room to an even further extent creating more difficulties to find opponents.
