The rule where your ELO gets reduced my 2 is, IMO, the most stupid rule I've heard of. I was on 1300 ELO and look what happened because of it:

It totally ruined my chances at FINALLY getting over 1300 on ELO, because of -2. So, just thought I'd say, thanks.

The purpose of ELO is to see who the most skilled UR players are... and in order to prove skill, people should fight and defend their positions.... imagine a simple game of "king of the hill". Otherwise, people will simply play to 1300 (or whatever score) by Monday, and sit on their scores for the rest of the week.
there is a a simple solution to your dilemma is to wait till Friday/Saturday to play your ELO matches... and once you get to 1310 or so stop playing, you are safely into the 1300 and you will win the 10 credits on Sunday.
Dont let this discourage you. When i started, the goal was just to get 1000 after 5 matches... when that got easy, the next goal was 1200, when that got easy 1300.... and now that is pretty easy.... but 1400+ still requires a lot of skill luck and time for me.

It happens. The game is so much easier early in the week and gets harder closer to weekend. I get up to 1200 or so with little playing and a fun deck for mission and still win quite a bit, and later I need to play one of my better decks to improve my rating. The rule is designed to stop people farming early against the newer players and then sit for the week to milk the 10 credits.
