Good openings in ELO?

I always seem to lose in fights where I go first. Does anyone have any good strategies for going first in Round 1?

If you're playing that FPC/Roots deck, you're having trouble opening because you lack cards that are threatening if pilled low. Your FPC half is great, but it runs much better with cards that have great round-winning power. Simeon also relies on low-pill threats to be truly effective. So, my advice is to swap out your Roots half for something else.

Honestky? The Roots half lacks solid threats. People will react more to say Ector than to Deadeye because while Deaeye has high base damage and Power Manip with SOB Ector's damage is harder to block. Also, Simeon can't be a R1 Opener because of Confidence and is an obvious bluff in most cases. You need more cards that scare not just follow ups with stuff like Yookie and Simeon.

All right, thanks for the great advice. Which clan would go better with my FPC half?

Ulu Watu are a solid choice to play with FPC-- Your Watery Grave is a proven 1400-level deck that's relatively cheap and can stand up to most shifts in the meta. Uppers might be a solid choice as well, due to their ability to pill force with big hitters at low amounts of pills. Everything but the... could be solid this week-- you could slot in Futoshi Ld for Heitachi if you want.

Those are some good decks you've got there misterjones.

So it seems like the main problems I have with my deck are that I don't have low pill threats or that I don't have cards that scare. I sort of have an idea on what the people above me mean, but can anyone care to elaborate on these two things?
