I'm playing Freaks. Daqun has the ability 'defeat: gain 3 life'. However, should he lose the round, and my overall health is at zero (or -2 for example), Daqun's ability is to provide 3 life. This doesn't get triggered for some reason, and the battle is over. Shouldn't his ability (which wasn't cancelled by the opposing players card) kick in? Isn't that why he's in my deck?
This is by design
the ability is there to give you life... not to resurrect you from the dead
initially when this ability first appeared it was resurrecting dead players. but it was fixed shortly after
defeat: + life/pillz will need to be used in the first 3 rounds
It'll only work against -life. For example, Praxie. You have 2 life, after Praxie hits your Daqun, You have 1 life left.
Imagine if it can give you health when even when you reach 0
you have 1 life, your opp use let's say askai and trying to deal 7 damage to you
you have daqun and you can let your opp use any pillz they want, reducing your life to 0 THEN daqun will give you 3 life to make your health goes up to 3
doesn't makes sense right?
if all defeat + X life can resurrect you, then what you need to do is to use ALL defeat: + life card and your deck will be unbeatable as long as you can deal 11 damage or so to your opp
That's because +Life (which has no max) activates before -Life (which always has a listed min).
Just know that the ability "Defeat: + X Life" does not work if you're KOed. Why not try a mixture of Daqun and Rhyno / Wolfgang? The damage reducers will prevent KOs, something Daqun can't do. But still keep Daqun with you as he's a good "damage reducer" and if you encounter cards like Mindy or Thormund.
