Random mode was on. That is why that happened.

Yes, I would say random mode was on, or it was jut a technical glitch, I a player was capable of hacking the game, they wouldn't waste their time doing that smiley

In the FAQ for Deathmatch it states:

"The Deathmatch game option (normal or non-random) is determined by the game option selected by the players involved."

May not happen often, but if a majority of players in the DM have their preferences set to "random" for whatever reason, then that will how all the matches in that room will be played.

Or, your setting is changed to whatever they're setting is. That player's setting could have been set to random smiley

Do you need that little icon in the bottom central part of the game? That means the mode is random. Best get out of those matches ASAP.

Deathmatch have a particular rule applied. The setting of the room is equal to the setting of the most players.

If more than half of the players in the Deatchmatch have "Random" setting on, all fight will be in random mode.
It's an exception to avoid not finding an opponent in the room.
