I myself am a relatively new player. I was lucky enough to join at a time when you could make a decent amount of credits through free iPhone offers, and later, through video ads. This enabled me to create a collection large enough to experiment and succeed in ELO. What's more, it enabled me to create that collection through the very enjoyable act of popping open many packs of cards, as opposed to buying individual cards from the store. Now, I purchase credits regularly, as much to support UR as to expand my collection.

UR is a CCG. As CCG players, most of us enjoy some element of chance in the way we acquire cards. A player that's getting to open a pack or check to see if he won a great CR is, quite simply, having more fun than a player spinning the reels for what's likely to be a measly 30 clintz, or watching videos for hours just to make a dent in the price of a good card. Maybe as a seasoned player, it's a little harder to appreciate a 1/10,000 chance of getting a card that can buy you a good 75% of the collection, because you already have it... But thinking back to when I was a newbie, the tombola was a welcome sight for that reason, even though I was well aware that the odds were not in my favor.

There really were a lot of things wrong with the tombola, I just feel like the slot machine was a step sideways rather than a step forward. Problems were dealt with, new problems of equal or greater caliber were introduced.

Some numbers to think about:
10 tickets = 125 clintz
The cost of 1 ticket = 12.5 clintz
Estimates for slot machine payout vary widely, but from my own over 10k tickets and the estimates of others...
Payout roughly = 50-65% of the value of what you put into it in ticket costs

If I am not mistaken, with full guild bonus you get 3 free tickets a day, which is 1 full spin. Let's forget about the payout estimate for now since it's the least accurate number we have, and assume the payout is 100%! Even with this VERY generous estimate you ONLY get 37.5 free clintz per day.

Does the slot machine distribute clintz more evenly? Sure. Is it a significant source of income for anybody? If you ask me, no. Does it help new players? Again, if you ask me, no. Watching a single video produces about twice as much clintz as you get from your free daily tickets (keep in mind our estimate for that income was high.)

So, that sums up my issues with it. It doesn't do anything exciting or interesting. We don't know if the jackpot is even technically winnable. And it doesn't seem to contribute very much at all.

http://www.urban-rivals.com/community/forum/?mode=viewsubject&id_subject=1942147&language=2

no-reply@urban-rivals.com (ghelas)

http://www.urban-rivals.com/community/forum/?mode=viewsubject&id_subject=1942147&language=2

wasteroftime

I average about 10 clintz per ticket and ill only play it once i have at least 12 so i can play all 3 reels. the guild bonus for extra tickets also exists now, which did not exist when we only had the lottery. i highly doubt UR would have introduced bonus tickets if the lottery was still the existing system.

http://www.urban-rivals.com/community/forum/?mode=viewsubject&id_subject=1942147&language=2

no-reply@urban-rivals.com (wasteroftime)

http://www.urban-rivals.com/community/forum/?mode=viewsubject&id_subject=1942147&language=2

M e R L i N

Post 103: Ghelas, I would settle for a steady income rather than an excitement which is nowhere in sight.

http://www.urban-rivals.com/community/forum/?mode=viewsubject&id_subject=1942147&language=2

no-reply@urban-rivals.com (M e R L i N)

http://www.urban-rivals.com/community/forum/?mode=viewsubject&id_subject=1942147&language=2

ghelas

Heh, that's a very interesting point actually... Btw it's not true that the slot machine pays out better. As I remember you could buy 10 tickets for 1000 (sorry if I'm mistaken), and if you played 10 different numbers you had guaranteed 100 clintz, so 10 clintz/ticket. I used hundreds of tickets in the slot machine and the avarage payout was always worse in big quantities.
The only pro in the slot machine is that you can use more than 25 tickets a day.
The problem is not with the number of players, but the players itself.

You remember the true purpose of this DT CRs, right? They are given out in order to give the "less fortunate players" a chance to stand up against the Uppers.

However, you mustn't forget an important factor, human greed. What if this new rich gets cocky with his wealth and starts persecuting the poor and new players?

In fact, I think that it's already happening now, just compare the prices of the cards today with the prices before the Crs are given out for free.

And if we put another expensive CR into the equation, it means that we will add one more nouveau riche.

But, what if the salvations never reached the sick people? What if the rich players get even stronger?

http://www.urban-rivals.com/community/forum/?mode=viewsubject&id_subject=1942147&language=2

no-reply@urban-rivals.com (Alhalish)

http://www.urban-rivals.com/community/forum/?mode=viewsubject&id_subject=1942147&language=2

Tanto89

To support my argument, you can take a look into the monthly ranking
