Colossus - Open Casket
I am basically unable to figure EFC out. I used to play UR like 10 years ago and recently I started to play some hands now and then and oh my god how do you play this? I feel everything I do is weak and everything my opponents do is extremely strong (decks, moves, etc...)
Is there anyone able to discuss their strategical approach to the game? I mean important stuff like:
-in what rounds are you looking to pillz more, in which ones less... when do you sacrifice a card... etc...
-your idea of best clans to choose... or how the clans balance each other / what bonuses or habilities you are looking for? I am very into high power + pillz modificators but seems like stuff like the classic uppers & montana with loads of attack modificators are still strong... ideas?
-how do you balance your deck? I generaly think that going for 5-4-4-3-2-2-2 is pretty neat but seems like I am creating very unbalanced decks or I don't know how to use them... maybe I would be better off on a more balanced 4-4-4-3-3-3-2-2?
Well thanks all for your opinions, I feel the forum is full of very specific topics and no one is trying to approach fundamentals of the strategy around UR and seems to me that's probably the most important stuff to learn in order to win at any game.

Thanks for a great post, it really gets me thinking on how to approach the game. I will try some of the clans you recommend and post here how is it going. Thanks!

Alright so let's jump into some "review" of how it went today so far.
I've been using: Evlyn Maycry, Kazayan, Rubie, Samantha, Balixto, Dagg Cr, M2 Sansot and T Gaank... Some good victories but some really tough defeats... on the bright side many of those were due to perfect hits and the like, so not much you can do I guess? Feedback welcome in all sorts of forms and shape, from the classic "you are so bad dude" to the kind "I would change X for Y"...
I am just not sure about Samantha... seems kinda weak... however I put it in ther for the SOB... serves it purpose quite I bit as DR vs some clans / annoying card that makes you use a few pills and sometimes you can deceive with it a bit. What you guys think?

Saltsberg was the substitution at the moment but Gail Ld was in mind too... Saltsberg was the recommendation I liked the most because acts as reductor.
At the moment I am trying this with acceptable results (I am not expecting to pass from opening a post in which I am asking for help to world champion in a week, so 150-200 points is considered success for now XD):
Gibson Cr, Qubik, Rowdy Cr, Space Hans Ld, Robb Mt, Randy, Nathan, Matilda
Few victories so far vs Jungo, Montana, Uppers... stuff like that. I think my opponents played poorly though but also the deck gives you room to play and induce mistakes.

Sorry for double posting but forgot to ask something... when you abandon a match in ELO (say you make a big blunder and basically the only possible outcome is for you to lose), do you lose the same amount of points as you would if you finish the battle in normal defeat? Or is there a penalization?

You loose the same amount of points.
I am not an EFC expert, but I usually reach low Z Palace. Junkz and All Stars are a good deck combination, but there are some adjustments you can make.
You're All Stars half is missing some of their strongest cards in Striker CR, Kora Mail LD. and Schumi 3*, you should consider adding some of them.
Flanagan is usually picked over Space Hans LD, but this week Space Hans LD might be a good choice by you, since All Stars will see a lot of play. I almost never see Gibson CR, you probably have better options at 5* with Locke or at 3* with Romana CR, Tremorth or Travis LD.
Good Luck

This is so dead so I will try to give you something to talk about...
I am trying mono Hive this week with my best results so far, broke my record reaching 500 something ELO which I understand is not huge, but hey, second week trying so pretty happy with results so far. I was talking with another player after he demolished me and he mentioned that the way I played my first card was an auto lose. This made me think... how you guys find these spots? How do you think about your first round? The deck I am using is XIII, Miyo, Alpha Dregn, Lumia, Nebula, Oon Cr, Sight Ld & Wave Ld. I found in general many people go either very strong or very cautious in the first round. I tend to go to win the first round pilling high and many times managing to perfect hit vs my opponent, both when I start and when they start. But when I pill high and opponents go 0-2 sometimes the gap is too big... This strategy still worked well and even despite the 4-5 pill difference most times I can win the match with just 2 cards... only up to Polit... now in Polit I find opponents are much better and think of everything beforehand...
So anyone who want to share a little bit of how do they think in these situations, you are all welcome to bring some ideas and let's talk about your approach.
Good week to all.
