So i decided to give my 2 cents and put up this post
IN: Berzerk...IN FORCE!
Sakrohm (namely these two clans combined!!!)
AS, hello marina and that new 5*
With the usual SOB/SOA and Rescue...freaks MAY have an appearance with Olga still around but bogdan's ban and Spyke's unbanning pushes Freaks down the pecking order
OUT: Montana have been hit hard! Sentinel aren't fairing to well without Lehane either, Askai's ban is annoying but Jungo still have Troompah and Ongh!!!
Not forgetting Quibik's ban which weakens Junkz' halfdeck
Berzerk/Roots...my fave combo!!!
Oh god... A lot of stuff going on, a lot of playable decks. I'll try with skeelz this week again, hopefully people will start using gheist and roots more to counter Berzerk and Sakrohm, and I do well against Rescue already. Uranus being free makes me wanna cry... the worst part is she's not on the voting list for the next week. Same for Berzerks.
Definitely a lot of interesting combinations this week. I think we'll actually see a bit less of ol' Spyke than in previous weeks, as people are now getting used to him and learning to play around him more effectively. Montana mono is more or less out of the picture, mono Sentinel suffers without their best low-star wall, and Rescue is always less prominent when Cliff is banned. Overall, this means we'll be seeing a lot less mono decks and attack manip.
Freaks/Berzerk and Freaks/Sakrohm decks should work well for people who are willing to play without Bogdan... SoB clans, especially Nightmare, may be a bit more prominent, as Dudley and Artus are great cards for cutting Berzerk's damage down... And of course, Roots and GHEIST will see quite a bit of use.
I'll be the first to admit that Spyke is OP, but he's also got more than a few counters. So, for everyone who's afraid of Spyke, here's a short list of cards that do a good job of fighting him.
Low-powered power reducers: Magda, Tula, Boris, Trish, Dean, Edwin, etc. Not necessarily your best option since there's bound to be some SoA out there this week, but it can work if you have a few solid 8 powers or an attack manip clan at your disposal, as well.
SoA: SoA clans and cards with ability SoA rid Spyke of his pesky power advantage. If you're running a Montana half-deck, and can spare 2 4* slots, consider Vito and Desmond together. Which brings us to...
Protection: Power: Desmond, Melanie, Fixit, Heitachi, Lena, etc.
Berzerk: The Berzerk are very well-equipped to counter Berzerk, which is something of a double-edged sword. Melanie, Spyke, and Elvis all do a decent job of beating Spyke, and Lola reduces him to mediocre damage.
All-Stars: Although most of them are at a disadvantage against Spyke, it's a relatively small one... As an added bonus, All-Stars are a great way to counter the SoA clans that many people will be running to counter Spyke decks.
Cards that significantly cut Spyke's damage:
High damage reducers with low min: Jeena, Uranus, Wolfgang, etc.
SoB DR/defeat: Artus, Dudley, Orlok, etc.
If a particular cards or clan give you trouble, pick them up and play them. Observe what strategies beat you, and incorporate those strategies into your own game.
Spyke is OP simply because the meta now revolves around stopping him alone......this means we see similar decks over and over with the sole objective of killing spyke...it makes the game boring tbh
Like ive reiterated before, Spyke's biggest OP point is his halfdeck...melanie and Elvis cut through 90% of Spyke's counters and Lola mops up the rest
Anyway for the decks, just switch between Sak/Berzerk and Roots/berzerk...join the crowd!!!
If you hit lots of Nightmare or AS switch to the former
If you hit lots of Gheist or Sak switch to the latter
Berzerk counters berzerk so that's taken care of.
As many people, including myself, have pointed out, Berzerk is a really good counter to Berzerk. If you and your opponent are running Berzerk, to some extent, the game becomes about who got the better draw.
However, if you manage to find a better way to counter Berzerk that can still hold up to the other popular decks this week, that puts you at a natural advantage. I personally haven't been playing much this week, but...
04:17 Elo you narrowly escaped from TB_Atombombe, The BeSharps (11-10): 1175 ELO
02:15 Elo you narrowly escaped from Doaryeu (6-3): 1160 ELO

00:30 Elo you narrowly escaped from GP_Skay_Punk (4-3): 1131 ELO
00:24 Elo you beat the ph0enix (16-9): 1118 ELO
00:18 Elo you narrowly escaped from AngeLusDeI (11-: 1101 ELO
00:12 Elo you drew with Hakuryou, -BR- MCZ Warriors -BR- (7-7): 1088 ELO
00:03 Elo you beat (DL)-Sidke, ♣♣♣Dark Legends♣♣♣ (9-0): 1090 ELO
Pussycat/NM defensive deck, very consistent results so far. Couple of games against Berzerk, but also seeing Nightmare, Freaks, Sakrohm, and a lone Montana mono (didn't see that coming...) Take advantage of the fact that we'll be seeing less attack manip clans and play something *new,* IMO!
What I'm trying to point out is that there are different ways to counter Berzerk than just using Berzerk.
I still haven't lost a game since I started using Pussycats and Nightmare this week...
Against that combination, Berzerk becomes a clan with low damage. Spyke? Yep, he's a nice wall, but at 5 damage he is only a little bit better than Chiara for 1 more star! What, he's attacking? Let him through -- I'm sure your opponent put 4-5 pills on him just in case. Elvis? He's a predictable 4 damage, your opponent probably can't afford to pill him very hard. Lola? At 4 damage, you know that she will just be used as a damage reducer, probably against your biggest card...
If your opponent is running Berzerk this week, it's because of Spyke. You know what he's running, and what strategies he will use. Cards with good natural damage like Cortez probably won't fit into that deck. Defensive play is just one way to gain an advantage in this scenario.
