The Shop hasn’t changed in three years. It’s getting a facelift today.
Action, Cool attitude and Danger packs give way to three brand new revolutionary packs which allow you to choose which clans you’ll get in the pack. In the Classic pack, you’ll find 3 characters within 6 clans at your choice. In the Elite pack you’ll get three cards too but within 4 clans only. The Titanium pack goes further with its 30 characters within 4 clans at your choice without any doubles in.
More change : three other new packs appeared which allow you to buy Clintz so you can do your shopping in the Market directly (2000, 4000 or 10000 Clintz).
New Blood, Full Deck and Rainbow packs didn’t change et you can still find them in the Shop.
Elite pack should be reviewed/removed.
3 cards from 4 or 6 clans is not big difference (if you take into account that every clan has expensive cards).
Let's say every clan has 5 expensive cards out of 20. Then your chance to get one of them in classic pack (6 clans) is:
30/120 * 30/119 * 30/118 = 0,01602
In elite pack (4 clans) you'll get:
20/80 * 20/79 * 20/78 = 0,01622
So, +0.0001 chance worth 5 credits? Not for me, thanks.
Let me just make a few points:
1. Why should Elite packs be removed? I happen to agree with you that they are not a good value, so just don't buy them.
2. The clans have very different compositions; the have different numbers of total cards, different numbers of "expensive" cards depending on your definition, and the expensive cards do not have nearly the same values. I will use the current market prices for non-Cr 0 XP cards as they are the only possibilities.
For example, the top 5 Ulu Watu cards are: Tanaereva (34K), Wee Lee (15.9K), Hikiyousan (9.5K), Shayna (6.3K), and Buck (4.6K).
In comparison Rescue's top 5 are: Kerry (7.8K), Hax (6.5K), Aurora (6.5K), Marco (4.8K), and Steve (3.7K). Tanaereva by himself is worth more than Rescue's top 5 put together!
4. Some cards are Rare while others are Uncommon, resulting in different chances of getting each. Also clans with many cheap Commons reduce the chance of getting the good (expensive) ones. This obviously effects the probabilities involved.
5. Your math is off. Just using the Elite pack as an example, using your assumption that there are 5 "expensive" cards and 20 total cards per clan, then your first card alone has a 20/80 or 25% chance of being a good one. How can you only have a 0.01622% chance of receiving at least one expensive card from a pack of 3 different cards? Using your assumptions the chance of getting at least one expensive card would equal 1 - (60/80 * 59/79 * 58/7 or 58.35%.
All I would say is just buy the pack that you want lol.
I'm sure urban have made each of the packs with something in mind like people saying that titianium is not good for value compared to full decks, but each of them are there for differnent reasons.
Titanium(my spelling is awful I know xD) -for begininers or people looking at getting certain clans. Not too fussed about the value of cards
New blood- Main reason people get this is to make money by selling the cards.
Classic- main reason for this is for people who like to try there luck at getting big with the cards they get and try to make a nice profit.
Elite- for people who want to get clintz by selecting the most expensive clans or people who cann't aford the titanium but hope to get a certain clan for them
Rainbow for people who aren't to fussed about what clans they get, usually people who have most of the collection and for people who like to get lucky
Full Deck- this is for money making in my opinion since you get the one rare gurenteed and so can make a nice profit depending on the rare of course
So basically packs are all about luck. And each pack has its own unique point and reason (none of my assumptions are why the types of packs are there just all my opinion)
With this my final point would be just get the pack that you want and leave the other packs for other players
