Just a quick message to let you know about some recents fixs:
- if an event manager forfeit a player, it should works flawlessly from now on.
- in "game" and "closed" mode, the event manager can hide the tools panel (for lisibility)
- in event, long description are now display with a scrollable zone (for lisibility).
- when a friend create an event or a preset, you now also get the short description in your friends feed.
- you now have the option to allow kate to send you messages, even if you refuse privates messages in general. (ON by default)
Also, some of you may be aware that Urban Rivals is coming to iPhone and iPod Touch!
It's gonna be a free download on the AppStore, and of course, you'll be able to use your existing account on the web AND the iphone/ipod.
Exclusively, for the curious, here is a sneak peak:
And if you already got one of thoses and are interrested in testing the beta version of the game, please let us know (thru customers support, mail email@example.com). I cannot promess access to everyone, but I'll allow at least 5-10 players to go into our beta program.
More to come about that and others stuffs
What kind of restrictions do you intend to ultimately place on the API? I can imagine all kinds of fun and wonderful uses for access to market data, but I assume that automated purchasing will be, for example, off limits. I'd love to build a portable java client that's optimized for speed in DT's. Simple things like keybinding the numpad so I can tap a 6 and get 6 pillz, start the battle (and excise the animation!) would really pick up the pace.
Very exciting prospect.
@fast is fun: automatic purchasing will indeed be forbidden but there will be a "captcha" so you can do some kind of market apps ("read" the market is okay, as long as you do not crush the servers).
As for full game client, we will allow that only "on demand" and to thoses with some prior experience with our API. But what you are describing is totally doable.
Fraggle, with regards to this API talk and the idea of UR in an executable file.
Would UR announce some of the better designed user content on the site for the players to download and use? Personally I am a fan of the idea of playing this game in an application format. Just a note for any budding coder's maybe include the option to turn off game audio EXCEPT for when a challenge has been made or accepted. As i play this game while foruming and doing emails, its only when a game is starting that I want to be made aware of, OOOO and when its my turn.
Look forward to seeing what comes from this.
