Hello all !
Veterans are well aware that we have always wanted the ELO to be both a highly strategic and very open game mode. Our desire to have as many strategic options as possible has lead us to revise the ELO mode rules several times. First of all, we created the list of banned characters gathering those who appeared to be most abused. This list enabled us to solve the main balance issues.
Next, however, the metagame gradually crystallized around the two or three dominant clans at the time. In order to prevent the metagame from stagnating, we then introduced a ban on the clan having dominated the previous week. Unfortunately, this course of action did not work as well as we had hoped. Though it provided a certain variety among the clans used to play, it mostly led up to a very negative feature: the "cycling" phenomenon that we are currently experiencing between Roots and Sentinel (and also All Stars for good measure). In addition, the ban of an entire clan is too drastic an initiative.
Just curious how many complaints/requests you guys have received regarding stopping a card from being banned multiple weeks in a row.... if theres such a list i'd like to add my name to that. 1 week i can understand.... multiple weeks in a row seems to just be another variation of the cycle.
There seems to be several things screwed up in ELO voting.
For one, no one seems to know the correct time it ends. I know several people who were told different things and they were all wrong so they all lost their votes.
Secondly, it seems that everyone is getting one less vote. I was busy this week so I only played my 5 games and stay above 1000. On the voting page it says those above 1000 get to vote, but I have zero votes.
Third, almost no one is getting voted out making the whole process near worthless. Change it to a above 2/3 vote to save and remove or steeply lower the min %. If a lot of characters gets banned so what? Maybe people will have to get a little creative to make sure they have votes to keep their favorites in.
The ending time of the vote has been up on the ELO vote page since.. last monday
But honestly, we expected to have a news on the home page, but the translations (we run in 7 languages) is late...
So changes are:
- votes ends on sunday 8pm, paris time (the ELO vote page show the ending time in your timezone) To avoid last minutes votes (as requested by a lot of users).
- the number of votes have been reduced a little over 1300 (7->6 8->7 9->8 10->9, 15->9, 20->10).
Not a change but bug in the translation of the page (willl be ixed):
- you must get to 1050 to get 1 vote, not 1000.
About the lack of infos, we are truly sorry, it wont happen again.
