Hello all !
Veterans are well aware that we have always wanted the ELO to be both a highly strategic and very open game mode. Our desire to have as many strategic options as possible has lead us to revise the ELO mode rules several times. First of all, we created the list of banned characters gathering those who appeared to be most abused. This list enabled us to solve the main balance issues.
Next, however, the metagame gradually crystallized around the two or three dominant clans at the time. In order to prevent the metagame from stagnating, we then introduced a ban on the clan having dominated the previous week. Unfortunately, this course of action did not work as well as we had hoped. Though it provided a certain variety among the clans used to play, it mostly led up to a very negative feature: the "cycling" phenomenon that we are currently experiencing between Roots and Sentinel (and also All Stars for good measure). In addition, the ban of an entire clan is too drastic an initiative.
Right now only 6 cards have at lest 5% of the vote. If you go to the voting page you can see what percentage of votes each card has received. It is showing that a card is "out" based on whether or not it has gotten more votes against than for. It won't actually get banned for the week unless it meets both the "percentage" and the "majority against" standards.
I like this idea a lot, it makes people actually think of a new deck instead of always using hawk, Lehane and all those other cards that tick ppl off. This, along with the new stop cards, will make people use different clans other than roots and sentinel.
I still dn't know why they banned my big boy tanaereva... huhuhu... he was a great 5 star card...
oh well, kudos to UR for "trying" to fix the metagame... i think, hehe! and yeah, thanks for brining back Zatman for me to play with and keep me busy in ELO testing, hehe!
I don't like this idea coz what's the point of creating those cards when you can't really use it... I know you can still use it at type 1 or type 2 but the reward is so little... only 1 credit and a little bit of clintz.... So, I don't really see the point... beside that, everyone can use those cards so it's fair.
I applaud URs move to change it up a bit....
the question is whether or not some cards will get a virtual permanent ban... that will simply be something we will have to wait and see.
but likely candidates for a permanent ban due to popular opinion will be cards like lehane and zatman
