...when all it takes to win are more powerful cards? Doesn't matter how you use your pillz if the opponent just has better cards than you. Figures, though, like every other game like this, paying players will always win over free players.
"What is the point of having a strategy section at all?"
Dude, there's 12 strategy stickies right at the top of the forum with ongoing discussions about...strategy. A quick glance of the regular threads reveal a decent percentage of discussions about...strategy. Even here, in your very own complaining thread, people are offering you...strategy.
Here's a hypothetical designed especially for you. Let's say you have two players. Now let's either give them both the entire collection or have them play with the same starter deck, it doesn't matter which. Ok, what is going to determine which player wins the most games in the long run?
tl;dr The strat forum is for learning and asking questions about strategy. Sounds like you should try it.
Paying players will have an advantage in early game as they can get staple cards from packs and sell/trade the cards for better ones. But over time a non paying player can still get packs by playing in tourneys and ELO. I mean if you only played 5 DT's a week, but you score in the top 1/3 every time, you could still get 1 pack every month. If you did ELO on top of that and scored 1200 each week you could double that.
Now lets get to the point about better cards beating better strategy. This is not accurate as almost any experienced player will tell you, as long as you have a decent balanced deck. you can still win. There have been times I've beaten opps with much better hands than me, and times I've lost with the better hand. DR, poison, SOA/SOB, Stop:abilities and +/- life and pillz play a large part in this.
As for the forum, the forum is designed for newer players to ask questions, seek advice and learn strategies from other players. It's also for more experienced players to assist newer players. It gives players a place to discuss cards, decks and learn new things. I mean some of the posts do get off topic but a large part of it is about the UR community voicing their opinion on a variety of things.
I purchase credits for 1 simple reason.....i care for this site. its basically a donate button with a huge perk, more cards to play the game i enjoy. as long as the community and mods continue treating us all as we are, equals, i will continue to donate my money by purchasing credits. they worked hard to think/create, build, and continue working hard on this site....it cant always be for free! our support helps us grow and lets UR stay alive.
To free players especially noobs, I feel that UR is not anything more but a survival game. That means you should try your best to find a way out just in order to survive. You should learn all the rules and all the systems so as to find the quickest and safest way to earn yourself enough to buy a starting deck which is decent enough.
And then the game is just beginning, and then you can talk about tactics and strategies which make things even faster.
To free players, earning, winning, accumulating and go on and on, that is what this game is about.
But iff you buy credits at least once, the whole thing will be entirely changed cuz you have the market now. Then this is another topic.
PS:I am still a free player so far and have played for 1 month. By the time I post this message, I have spent more than 20k clintz on the market to buy cards and have nearly 100 cards. I keep a winning rate around 60%. I have to admit that I do spend a lot time on the game cuz I am still in the starting phase.
All I have to say is People with a good strategy can find a way to beat a person with better cards, and not always the most "powerful" decks win, like take Bangers for example, they are considered a "powerful" clan, but i can drop them easy using my nightmare deck. All in all the easiest way to learn, is pay attention to your matches and learn from your mistakes...and pay attention to which card you are playing, because i have had instances which i could have won, but selected the wrong card by mistake and wound up losing because of it. Experience is the best strategy and teacher of all, and as for getting cards? Sure it takes a while, but you can get a lot of decent cards with only a few thousand clintz.
I always think of this section as a general discussion section, but they leave the name strategy instead because it gives them a reason to censor topics they don't like you talking about in the name of "does not belong in this section." I have had three threads to date killed for being critical of some system or pointing out strategic buying methods. Two of the three things that were killed were eventually addressed.
That is why I think this section is not called general discussion.
Actually, as to point out your statement is not true I lost to the most epicest noob ever. I had Grudj, Harleen, Eyrik, and Lehane, they had Myke, Winston, Ricardo, and Warren. I played Grudj 4 pillz thinkin I was safe with his weak card, he played Warren 5 pillz, I got annoyed and played Harleen 3 pillz he played Myke 5 pillz. I lost. From him putting 5 pillz each turn he prevented from winning, and using horrible Drs to defeat me. BTW I had a rematch and my anger fuelled me and I murdered him 12-0. But still, it does not matter.
You can still get great cards if you dont buy credits becaues the best cards are rare & uncommon cards which mean you have a low chance of getting caeleus & s high chance of getting nata or spiaghi depending on the pack. me i have gotten tons of great cards from just elo, survivor dt repeatedly to afford charlie caeleus emethe blaw blaw players who do buy credits they may get a good card they may get a bad card but even if they do get a good card & you fight them doesnt mean they will win its about how you play unless your a noob vs a lv 25+
