> I want to talk about Daily tournaments, the only tournament with no rules, no restrictions and get's no attention.
> I'd like to start by saying tons of people have complained about this specific tournament for many reasons, some being time wasters, others being about running into people who are only doing the tournament to ruin it for others and finally, complaining about the 2 clans who dominate in this tournament, Uppers and Montana.
> This tournament has flaws, and a lot of them.
> Daily tournaments are the only tournaments which can purposely be ruined by other players, it's also the only tournament which contains no specific room for itself, it's also a place where any deck is allowed *But* to come 1st you'll have to use a specific one which will in turn put you at a constant disadvantage to those just playing for 'fun'.
> After placing in top 3, top 5 top 10 and even coming 1st in this tournament it's clear that not much skill is required in this but more luck, luck on who has the less time wasters, the less 40* crushing decks and the less people purposely ruining the game for others in the tournament.
> I really feel there is no argument on this discussion, but any input you have will also be taken into consideration.
> What do I hope to become of this? For the staff to completely rework DT's.
> Finally, I've posted this in general because it's the only topic anyone comes to, plus it's a general problem.
''Oh my.. this is the first time I've ever seen M-bison make a serious thread''
Even I lol'd.
I think T1 DT's still provide the same problems, typically you don't have such a disadvantage in T1 but still run into similar problems. I also find it a lot harder to place in DT's with a T1 deck unless I reduce the stars, kind of like the decks you mentioned, 16-18* decks work great in T1, but you will still run into 25* decks with stupidly OP hands.
I mean you can say well it's once every 5 games or so, but why every 5 games must I fight at such a disadvantage? Surely if this tournament was taken seriously it would be as fair as ELO.
And the quickbattle really doesn't work as good as maybe they hoped, I've been top 3 and played against players with timber and Hugo, it's highly unlikely they were near my position or had a similar deck. That's 1 example of so many.
I'm going to be honest, I'm not saying my ideas are the be all and end all but it's clear this tournament needs a fix. Just because this tournament is played and won it doesn't mean it's fair and organised.
If no one wants bans then heavily weighted penalties would be good, Jackie cr is -2 but if she wins against a 5* it's a -1, it's completely worth using, they should change that. On the other hand, other cards like Rowdy aren't worth using at all, same stars same penalties but 75% weaker, the ELO bans really don't reflect what's strong in DT's like Trippie said.
Rofl, it cut half of my message...
I was going to say: has anyone tried using low star deck in t1? Should work in the same manner
I also said that no matter if we end up with separate deck format for DTs or not, there should still be a limit of battles per one DT
I like Botshots idea
play only 10 matches per tourney and the best player will be the one who wins the most games. Have some sort of swiss system intergrated into the tourney (so that you are paired with a player with a similar record to you).
Currently Dt is all about speed. Whilst speed is good for the players who like to think on their toes it is possible to then get into the top 50 with a deck costing under 4K (as my cheap deck series has proven) with a 50/50 win/loss ratio and a fairly fast browser.
If there were only 10 matches per tourney, that would make it a completely different game type. i'll give that the OP are part of the tournament, challenging to beat. i don't think it's great to have to face 40* decks, but i can live with it. what's more important is that running montana or uppers isn't your only option. obviously people win without them, but it's just so much easier to win with them.
i also don't see anything wrong with being a able to do well with a cheap deck.
M-Bison was either drunk, high, or not his usual self when he made this thread.
I have a feeling he doesn't remember making this.
I like this idea alot actually, the challenge/competitiveness of a DT is quite reduced when there are people ruining it by stalling games, either manually or by their cards.
