I want to discuss with you guys about the ratio of characters per clan used in an ELO deck.
The ratio of cards per clan can be: 8/0 (monoclan), 7/1, 6/2, 5/3 and of course 4/4
ZsX Jule opened a thread on the French forum about the 5/3 vs 4/4 and it really opened my eyes to some nice deck building options.
The 4/4 with all its advantages, sometimes gives us the 3/1 draws where a card doesn’t have its bonus, this card usually is the weak link and many times contributes to our defeat.
The 5/3, although you will not get both bonuses as often as you want, will provide you with a way of controlling which clan doesn’t get its bonus. There are cards that rely more on their bonus and cards that rely less on it (like damage reducers), as there are clans that have situational bonuses that, if needed, can be skipped (for example Skeelz or bonuses that activate when you lose the round: pussycats and vortex)
Examples: Raven's Bangers Vortex Elo week 2/13 to 2/16 , probably not the best ones but you get the point.
The 6/2 is leaning more towards the monoclan, by splashing 2 cards with nice abilities that sometimes may get their bonuses, for example deleted
The 7/1 is a monoclan which splashes an utility card, like a d.r. for example spiaghi. You have to take into account that it messes the support abilities or bonus (Montana, Sentinel, La junta, Jungo, Rescue etc)
I was wondering how many of you guys tried these deck building options and if it worked for you or not.
7/1 splashing Spiaghi worked a little, but Gheist makes life hard for me
I also tried splashing Lehane, until I realised I was playing Junkz, and I actually forgot Flanagan... This is one incident where splashing Lehane is not a good idea...
i guess the Chiara/Redra is a good 6/2 combo. I haven't tried it myself much, but i heard 6/2 Gheist with these 2 actually did pretty well in Elo.
Good point about some cards like damage reducers not needing the bonus. I hadn't really factored that in before.
I kinda like doing 5/3 with Uppers. Uppers get quite a large bonus, so it is always quite a disappointment when Uppers are the lone card. Also, I don't really like Upper's 2 stars, especially before they had Bianca. It can go nicely with Skeelz since Chiara and Redra are so good.
Before Pussycats had Cherry or Ivanka I used to do 6/2 with them. I didn't like many of their low star cards so I would use Chiara/Redra.
7/1 decks: I find these can work well.
6/2 decks: These might work though if you use 2 different clans as splashes you will be running the risk of getting very few bonuses and if there from the same clan most clans only have 1 card which is a really good splash so the other might let the deck down.
5/3: I usually find these decks a bit unstable because there are very few clans which can do without their bonus and still play as good as with the bonus (skellz are the only ones that are near to this unless you come across stop opp: ability)
4/4 and 8/0: these are the normal decks and usually work the best (though 7/1s can work nearly just as well).
p.s In other game modes leaders can be used to make a 7/1 deck and usually this is recommended.
@AmberRed, that situation is still highly unpredictable, you could win with turn 1 bluff turn 2 poison, or you could semi bluff with 3 pillz turn 1, or just try to win turn 1 with massive amounts of pillz, I'm talking here 7-9 pillz, I've seen 11 pillz turn 1 grudj used against me by one of the top players (actually LW Fight Cr)... and I lost ... so it's still 50/50 for the opponent, it's always very hard to play against Freaks, especially when used by a good player.
@AmberRed1994 C wing would suck with freaks, I think it would be better to use the fang pi 2 stars with the defeat: +2life.
And remember you don't have to activate the poison on 1st turn. I think that is the most common mistake with freaks, player tend to overpill like crazy with them on 1st turn.
@Pingvin yup! Most of my opponents either put 1 pill or they overpill with their Freaks, which makes things easier for me to counter them... I guess Kusuri or Lola can be better, but C Wing's minimum of 2 makes your opponent re-think their strategy because their life drops to 2 instead of 3.
I would only use c wing with freaks on a berzerk week tbh. min 2 is something to think about but kusuri can win her battles easier and i think most often c wing will end up doing only 1 point of dmg with his ability.
now back to the thread. I haven't tried 5/3 deck build but I guess you would take 1 clan that needs their bonus badly and put the heavy dmg dealers in there and the other 3 would be walls from another clan that don't really need their bonus.
