Hello Urban Rivals players,
In response to recent inquiries about RB card changes, we have decided to share some new information with you.
One of our biggest goals is to modernize Urban Rivals and make it marketable to a new generation of players. We strongly believe that this is in the interests of all of our players. In an indirect way, more players means more valuable collections for everyone, as well as new friends, guild mates, and of course, rivals! In the course of our development of modernization of UR, we came across a big problem. Some of our old art is not up to current standards and technical specifications. We had an urgent need to start cycling old art out of the game, and we decided to change the purpose of RB cards a little in order to help us meet that goal. We apologize for the abruptness of the change and any unintended effects it had on the collection values of some of our players.
We would like to share with you a small preview of UR's work-in-progress card redesign. This great initiative is what made the conversion to more modern, high-res art a necessity. We think you will be pleased with the results:
Regarding compensation for players who have purchased or won RBs, we have some updated information in the Rebirth 2.0 thread for you as well. We believe we have found a solution that will satisfy the needs of every player who has supported our original release of RB cards. Thank you for your patience, and all of your ideas, which helped us to arrive at a good solution for everyone.
Why is there such an "urgency" to re-illustrate old pieces of art when gameplay features like Secure Trades still aren't implemented? Half the players couldn't care less about the art as it only shows history and most of the pre 2008 cards still look good. The whole concept of Rb's has always sounded a little wacky to me anyway even before staff announced that the non Rb versions of x card are basically Cr's. Come on guys, can't we just have switchable skins instead of new cards entirely? Saves cards going Cr and it saves everyone from having to buy another version of the sane card.
See, I'd much prefer an entirely separated pack for them. Have one pack for new bloods, one pack for Rbs (where you can pay like 20 credits for 4 RBs or cards with RB counterparts), and like 8 other packs with varying differences (would love to see them bring back the rainbow pack, as I really did enjoy those).
Rainbow packs were and old type of pack which cost 20 credits and gave you 3 random cards from any clan, whilst following the normal packs rules like no crs and leaders.
Needs to be updated but you can find info about old packs here: http://urban-rivals.wikia.com/wiki/Pack
@14 and 15: nice ideas Battery (about classic vs. Rbs cards looks and about holding back market when new Rb is released) +1 and @25, 26 +1
@20 waster: would it be too hard to do? As far as I understand those Rb cards have a cost to be done so I don't think staff would be willing to just release them without tying it up to some way of having some profit. I understand you, but that's the way it is, isn't it?
@30 and 33: maybe again due to costs associated to all of this, what do I know? But what you said would be ideal, I must say so.
@31: great point in 4, Gipsy Danger.
Ghelas, maybe you should listen to what the people is saying. Basically, they're asking you guys to keep it simple, do the changes you need, forget the first plan of action and finish the updating. Lots of us feel it will work better, to you too. Post 39 have some very, very, very good suggestions
On a last note, the new looks are sick!! Love the full art cards! Great! (Sorry for the enthusiastic use of exclamation points :sweat. Rainbow packs sounded cool...lolol
About some of TheDoomBug questions, I am looking into some stuff since the Rb 2.0 discussion and have some similar doubts, but I'll send you a private message, to avoid being repetitive in here.
