Hi guys. I'm still a noob at UR and I don't know why this deck works and why this deck does not work so on and so forth. One of the things I wonder about is why a lot of people consider Lehane to be OP. I really don't understand. Like I get it the 8 power + 8 attack is a threat also with the stop bonus. But she only has 2 damage. Opponent can just let her through and 2 damage won't do that much especially against clans with high damage or DR like La Junta or Pussycats.
Also with Tula. Tula is not OP but a lot of people seem to consider her as an alternative 2-star for people who can't afford hawkins. Why tula? I know -4 power is great but cards on the current meta right now have 8 power or at least most cards that are not piranhas. I have 3 weeks of experience but I have been reading quite a lot on the forums and I guess my inexperience on the game is why I'm like this. Comprehensive explanations will do be gladly appreciated. I'm fine with very long explanations
2* cards aren't OP because of how good they are themselves, it's when they're paired up with higher start cards in the deck. When you're lowest star card is your best defender (which is how most people like to play it) you are already in a good position.
Lehane is almost always a guaranteed win in pill-to-pill situations, and will almost always come out ahead even when attack manipulation is involved for your opponent because of her 8 power, +8 attack, and SOB.
As for Tula, she was popular a long time ago. Most of the better 2* options for Piranas have been banned in ELO, so Hawkins, Bonnie LD, and Parmabarb would be preferred but typically can't be used. Hitting her ability on a card 7 or below is almost always giving you the win with her being a 2* and opponents power being equal or lower. Power creep in this game hurt her a lot. You wouldn't use her against other 2*s really and she'll win pill-to-pill otherwise (as SOB will most likely take out the attack manipulation).
With UR being a card game based around pill control, these cards can help you gain the upper hand with pill count, while still giving you assistance as defensive cards or as cards that can hit for damage.
Playing Lehane R1 arguably turns the match into a 14-12 3 RD match. That's pretty nice for a 2*.
Lehane is great because she has high base power, SOB and attack manip. SOB can block attack manip, +damage and is just all round pretty good. Like daxose said she wins pills to pill situations meaning you have the advantage. All the other 2* SOB have 7 power compared with her 8 (flanagan marlysa cr, lucy lea angora)
Tula was great ages ago when I started playing because 6 and 7 powered cards were more common. With more 8 powered cards and the introduction of 9 powered cards she just isn't as good. Hawkins parmabarb bonnie ld and puff are all much better options.
Lehane is either an auto-win for you, or makes your opponent spend pillz for not much in return. Even if she's only 2 damage, it's still 2 damage that you didn't have to pay much for. That gives you an advantage.
Tula is nice because in addition to her power manipulation, she deals 4 damage. That's great for a 2-star, especially in a clan like Piranas that lacks a lot of damage.
Tula is my favorite card in UR history. Undercutting another power reducer like Mona Cr, Robb Cr, Blaaster Cr and Oshitune was incredibly satisfying. Like others have stated, the power creep of high powered cards, plus cards like Mahimatah and Romana limit Tula's effectiveness though. I still play her for fun, but there a lot of other solid 2 star Piranas options.
Side note: Still very very disgruntled she didn't win Miss Clint City years ago.
I find Lehane is powerful just in defeating cards. Yes she only has two damage, but that just means she will be used to wall against your heavy hitters. Assuming the player with Lehane goes second, you only have 1 round you can confidently avoid having Lehane pound your damage-heavy-5 star into the ground.
So it is not her two damage that makes her scary, its that she stops your 7-8 damage cards from winning.
Oh, and she allows room for more 4/5 star cards... but that has already been said.
Tula had her day a few years back. But with the power creep and the introduction of 9 power cards, her usefulness has been cut dramatically. Now days, she really is only good against Rescue, All Stars, Huracan, and the occasional ability-reliant power manipulator (Caelus, Arantxa, Earl, Noemi).
