Check out the new game mode Survivor (in beta):
And the new rule for 50/50 in non random rooms:
We hope you'll like the news/changes
I like the new mode, but I think you have to allow open challenges rather than just the quick challenge. Make it so that you can only challenge people with equal or more wins in a row. That way, a person with 10 wins can't go after low level players and a becomes a target for people like me that love to spoil a win streak.
Of course, you'd still have an issue with people being able to decline challenges.... but hey, I can't solve all the problems.
@Fraggle: The powerdecks are ok, but have the potential to be pretty boring. Everyone is using Ulu Watu. The bigger problem is how the challenges work. Sure, you can't pick n00bs to challenge, but you can reject every challenge until someone you think is a n00b sends one your way. That's going to become a pervasive problem, especially if the clintz rewards go up. How easy would it be to hide players' names and levels when they challenge you in the survivor rooms? Just show their survivor level and fair play value.
@Fast in fun: actually, it's funny to see how everybody (and everywhere) says very differents things about the ultimate deck in Survivor type 2 (and I can ensure you that this is NOT yesterday's deck of Forza Italia - for example), Overall, I think it's a good sign that there is no obvious uberdeck, lot's of clans have pretty powerfull cards that wasn't really usables before in competitive mode. Off course thru time we might change the format or add newer formats.
As for "picking" opponents in Survivor, we have 2 specifics things:
- a very nice improvement to the quickbattle automatic selection system that will automatically match you with your closests opponents in all modes (much better than it does right now)
- a feature to prefent refusal of a challenge in specifics modes.
We think it should be quite efficient against "manual picking".
We are currently polishing and testing thoses.
I don't think there's a single uber-deck, but I do think it's safe to say that a few clans will dominate in Survivor, just like Uppers and Rescue used to dominate in ELO. You'll see some clans and cards often, while some will be uncommon. Clans whose strongest cards are w/ support abilities (Rescue, La Junta, Sentinel) aren't going to make it into the Hall of Fame. I don't see that as a bad thing per se, especially b/c players can go to different rooms for different decks and styles, but it might be nice to rotate a ban like in ELO, or do something else to shake it up from time to time.
Improvements to the challenge system, generally, would be great. There are people who I've blacklisted because they're slow or abusive (ex: they wait until they're staring at a blinking red bar before moving if they can't win a game), but are still challenging me in DT's. And I've been quick-challenged by people in my guild more times than I can count. Fixes for those issues would be a godsend. As would be a shorter timer in DT's
Can you give us any hint as to how the new quick challenge system will find opponents? Might be appropriate for Survivor, matching people who've lasted a long time against one another for the large jackpots, but I'd really hate to see something that matches people by level or win/loss record in the daily tournaments. Skill level matching, or anything that attempts to closely approximate it, would be a shell account fiasco, just like the old < Level 8 DT rooms.
@Fast is fun: Ulu Watu aren't actually the best for me, personally I prefer a combination of sakhrom and uppers, sakrohm for the ridiculous damage reducers and uppers for the attack reducers and most of my damage. I also think that player level often has misleading correlations to skill level, i can consistently beat level 50s-70s in survivor, then again i got creamed by a level 12 with Guru Cr . Also this game is not so much a test of what cards you use but a test of your intelligence and ability to predict your opponent's move.
