Check out the new game mode Survivor (in beta):
And the new rule for 50/50 in non random rooms:
We hope you'll like the news/changes
@HaveOne: we like web 2.0 as much as the next guy, but Urban Rivals is a game, a very specific one, and we carefully examines feature that we add and how we prioritize them. Site/game performance is very high in our list and from time to time we have to stop doing a "new thing" to make sure all the activity generated by you guys doesn't crash the site or make the gaming experience slower.
@Fast Is Fun: general remark on format, metagame stabilization etc.. we agree and I believe you've noticed that we take the matter seriously
As for new QuickBattle, the system will have a specific way to behave depending on the room/rules/context.
Meaning for example in ELO/Survivor, you'll be match-up regarding you ELO Value/current victories serie, but during DT, by current ranking in the tournament. It should automatically eliminate organized play.
@Fraggle: can we also have a button during battle to skip animation? sometimes, the internet might not be stable, when we re-login, we still need to watch the animation again, and time is running out. Anyway, the result is not dependent on the animation, so it will be better to have this function.
p.s. sorry, i do not know where i can put suggestion.
That doesn't sound like a positive step w/r to Quick Battle in DT's. I gave up on it a long time ago because it kept challenging people on my blacklist, guildmates, re-challenging people I just played, etc. None of the high-end DT players I've exchanged messages with, the folks who win multiple DT's each week, use it either
It's even less likely to be used by upper echelon players if, in addition to all of it's quirks, it forces them to constantly play people with finely tuned tournament decks instead of allowing them to play a range of players. I won't get into all of the game theory here, but players are rational. In Survivor, you're getting exponential (well, not really, but close enough) growth in the jackpot as you move away from "easy" games and face a slew of top tier players, back to back. In DT's, that's simply not true. Instead, matching #1 against #2 gives an advantage to people lower down the chain at the end of the tournament (aka: MarioKart syndrome), decreasing the top players' likelihood of winning the largest possible prize and discouraging the use of quick challenge.
@Fast Is Fun: QB will certainly be enforced in DT. DT are also exponentionals as the more points you gather, the bigger your rewards. We are sick of people picking their opponents in competitives modes. So yes, it will make things harder for the top tier players than currently, but it's *competition* (and on the positive side, you'll get to auto-challenge people that are like you, willing to play fast to go up).
