Survivor always refer to me as a male. lol.
I think it's safe to assume that the developers will be fixing that in the future (gender selection I mean). But since it is not all that important and urgent, it might get a delay since there are other more pressing concerns that need fixing or upgrading like our guild room settings, etc.
People seem to ignore the significance of a player's avatar to his/her gender.
8 out of 10 players that PM me (The ones who don't know me yet) always refer to me as "Mister", "Sir" or "Man". This is because of the mind set that majority of people who play online games are male. Well, for the record, there are also few female players around UR.
Although this doesn't bother me much, I still prefer to correct people in assuming that I am male.
Not all male can pull off an avatar with lulabee in a pink background. Don't even get me started with the name "Mermaid".
It's ok Merm-o, I even get called "Macho Mod" from time to time by people asking to be made into a Mod. lol.
I wonder if you have already been called "The Brute". I would be ticked if someone messaged me with:
"Hello The Brute, how do I join tournaments?"
well its pretty fine ffor me
i dotn think a girl ould be called "connor" or "conrad"
i dont think they liek asssasin bunnys either
its a good idea but wont make much difference to me
i dont know if ive ever been called a girl
A gender selection would be interesting but a nuisance also. Granted players have to deal with the gender confusion, but it helps keep the flirts at bay. So as with any choice there are pros and cons to it.
If any player is ever put in a uncomfortable position, please notify a Mod immediately so they can deal with the individual.
I think a lot of it has to do with the general feel that women often get bored of such things earlier on than their male counterparts... but at the same time, there is a proven theory(fact) that womenz are better at multi-tasking then men, so...
preconceptions are easy to make, you just clump people together, and often associate with what you know...
if you have a gaming community which contains many female friends, then you're more apt to believe that "they do exist."
meanwhile, i have a strict set of rules...
under 18 until proven otherwise...
male until proven otherwise...
no... saying you're either of these things does not prove it...
must have a registered porn site...
-that last part was clearly a joke, and i hope i didn't offend anyone, especially you Zero... mucho respect, even with the US flag.
FM, if we get more PM addressing us as male, then I will start getting the vibe that male call their friends using cute nicknames too. Hmm.
Anyway, gender really doesn't matter. You should treat everybody equally. Discrimination by gender is not appropriate. I personally will hunt you down if someone is ever reported to do this.
Regarding the "Hello The Brute, how do I join tournaments?" statement, I'll avoid this if I were you. When FM is ticked off, she usually runs around with a knife and you'll find yourself added as an ingredient on what she is cooking.
Based on the history reports regarding harassments in the game. You will be amazed at the rate of the cases that are reported to us regarding this. Usually it is caused by people using inappropriate avatars (Explicit ones). If you are one of these people and you are receiving inappropriate comments (PM or in game chat) from other people, then *hint* *hint* perhaps posting an inappropriate picture is like an invitation for "Pervs" to lurk close to you more.
Yes, women are good at multi-tasking. My history of time-out battles will prove otherwise though.
In this community, yes, we (women) do exist. We like mingling around as one of the boys though because it helps reduce the incident of people trying to impress us hoping they'll get noticed and hoping they'll get more chance of being a mod. Sorry to say but it doesn't work that way.
