Sorry if this is the wrong forum, It just seems like it's the closest thing to a "general UR discussion" that we got.
So in all seriousness, does anyone actually enjoy the random factor that happens at certain hours during the tournaments?
It just seems like an awful idea, that could do nothing but lead to frustration. I mean, if you were playing a serious game of chess, wouldn't it kinda take the fun out of it if you had to flip a coin to see whether or not your move played out as planned or your piece just got thrown in a random direction?
At very least, I'd love if we even had 2 separate rooms for the Type 2 tournaments where one ALWAYS was non-random. The random thing just isn't appealing in any way, shape or form. Is anyone with me on this?
I agree. Sometimes the random can work in your favour but most of the time sadly it doesn't. I've lost battles where I should've won them, all because the random worked in my rival's favour. Like the time I was playing with Dalhia and I put five pills on her, making her have 40 and the card she was up against had like, 30.... And they won. ¬_¬
Sometimes it's a good thing and other times, well, not so much.
I like the idea of having two separate rooms... I'm with ya!
I like to play random:
It's faster because I don't have to count the possible attack of my opponent.
Because many players don't like it you can get higher in the dt ranking!
I know the down side, I used to get frustrated as well... But I get frustrated in no random too when someone exactly pillz me right 3 times in a row...
The way to play random: see every win as bonus and don't care about a loss!
@ dysentery: I agree there should be 4 seperate room for the tournament for T1 and T2 random and T1 and T2 non random every time!
I think it would make chess WAY funner to play where you had to flip a coin and see if your peice won the battle or your opponents..
It would make the pawn's far more useful! ^.^
*Ponchos likes chess...*
ANYWAYS onto your real question here..
Yeah I completley understand where your comming from as I have ALSO been there before... And yes it would make MUCH more sense in having a non-random room just like in ELO..
BUT while we do not have non-random DT rooms, lets just have fun..
I have honestly found that there is a "trick" to random play and that you can still climb up the ladder of success (Even easier!)
Many times I have had my butt saved in Random DT's just because I decided to go all out and see what happened!
Just ensure your opponent never gets more than double your attack and that you can get a sureshot for the finish and you will almost always score a victory!
I wish I felt like ranting and raving about how stupid and asinine random was, but you know what?.. I think I finally came to peace with the fact that its here and its (probably) never going away! ^.^
(I really am not sure the con's to having non-random rooms though.. I think it might just be the extra work the UR staff would have to go through.. Which I have a feeling that these guys might already be spread a bit thin.. The one thing that MIGHT happen with Random rooms is the loss of attack manipulators in non-random rooms..)
I STRONGLY disagree with all of your opinionated opinions... Random is an important part of the game. It evens out the playing field for those that may come up short. I too get pissed off when my high damaging card gets annihilated by an opposing card with a few attack points away but when my poorly pilled card wins as a result of battle I jump for joy.
Random is like a box of chocolate. you never know what you are gonna get. Same as life, which is also full of randomness.
I hate random as it makes the game random. I mean you have almost no way of planning and all strategy is just thrown out. Whereas in non random you can make a stratagem to play. Like you can know i can pill this amount here and then still be able to beat his next card. That strategy is destroyed by random factor.
I like playing random ELO, but not so much DTs, but really the only reason is because you don't usually have very many experiance players in a random ELO room so it pumps your score up a little bit. One Sunday morning I went from 1050 to 1360 playing uppers + Hugo in random
