To get ahead, one needs to know how to make sacrifices and to accept some fairly radical changes to one's anatomy. The Piranas’ new recruit, Selma, understands this perfectly, as does Chwing, the Skeelz' new student. Meanwhile, the Rescue can now count on the help of Wesley, while La Junta present a very promising young robot who goes by the name of Ed 12. Get these characters in the shop’s New Blood, Action and Danger packs.
My favourite new release is Selma.
Sure, he's Katan with one more power and damage, but that's a big thing! Bumping a pill manipulation / SOB card up to 7 power and 7 damage is really good, each power is really compounded because of the extra pills, and also to get that extra edge over Montana, Uppers, Sakrohm, Sentinels, Junkz, Rescue etc.
A definite first-choice 5* Piranas for me.
The other cards are interesting, Ed 12 makes me think that UR is trying to make La Junta more of a T2 survivor clan, what with Naginata, Emeth and Ed 12 all being solid 5* options, though I wouldn't use Ed 12 over either Naginata or Emeth in ELO.
Chwing is a 3* SOB, which is quite rare, with high power at that. I always thought that Liam and Tomas should have their abilities switched, Chwing can fill in an SOB gap in mono Skeelz when Caelus and Tomas can't be fit together.
Wesley is my favourite release even if he maybe isn't the best release. He's just right, not overpowered but potentially very fun to play.
I am actually very disappointed with this release. Chwing is mediocre at best. Just compare her to a card like smokey who is much more useful at the same star count except instead of "protection" he has +3 pills along with the SOB and the same stats. Ed12 is not what the junta needed and in essense is another Lennox except he is in a weaker clan. Since SOA is more popular then SOB, ED12 will really be hurt more then lennox. Wesley is just a worse Mona, His ability has one more reduction but is confidence based. Wesley also has 1 less dmg and there is quite a difference between 3 and 4 dmg. He also is limited to mono while mona is not. Last but not least, Selma. She is just an upgraded Katan but at the cost of one more star Katan is a better card for the star count. As there isn't a big difference between 6 and 7 dmg. the increased power is nice but not worth the extra star. Katan is already underused as it is. If only they gave her +3 pillz then the card would be worth the space in a deck.
Wesley has one less damage than Mona, can reduce one more power but only conditionally, thus I am also thinking he is somewhat worse. Though Rescue do welcome power reducers and especially he can even counter super high power (8+), this card is not a great boost for them, just introduces a new tactic IMO.
Chwing is a good SOB filler, as skeelz are always struggling against those clans with great bonus. But 7/3 for 3* is way too normal, just think about Sharon/Dayton, I donot think she will get a staple position.
Ed 12 is not what La junta in serious need. Almost the whole clan are designed for high pillz fight, and he (maybe "it" belongs to the same category. He will be a great 5* opinion in half decks nevertheless.
I have somewhat more respect for Selma. Dalhia is decent but I hate her style of "always hitting at first round". For the owner she is inflexible, for the opponent this means too much randomness and simply guess/coin tossing. Selma is a good replacement. 7/7 is a classic state for 5*,and with 2 extra pillz bonus she will be ready to counter other alike guys like Askai/Ghumbo. IMO, increase one star for 1 power or damage is not satisfying, 1.5 points (2 star for 3 points) is acceptable, 2 points for 1 star is great. Thus she is a great upraded version of Katan and should worth replacing the latter, at least in half decks.
