I looked at roots recently for elo deck & i noticed a couple things
1 roots have the most unusable cards in ur (in my opinion) ogoun kyu sunnygoat matthew tshern yaman etc.
2 they cant be used in survivor or type 2 because they only have shakra armand lou kiki jeena & rattana
3 they really dont have many good cards besides sharkra jeena arno (not including cr's)
What do you think about roots?
They are only in trouble if they verse an SOA or SOB bonus, if it's an ability they are protected.
And GHEIST makes a very playable mono, but you have to use different strategy; because of the low power they need pill advantage so you have to rely on bluffs, and because of the high damage you do not need to win with the heavy hitters in order to win the game. This makes GHEIST unpredictable the same cannot be said for Roots.
"because of the low power they need pill advantage so you have to rely on bluffs, and because of the high damage you do not need to win with the heavy hitters in order to win the game. This makes GHEIST unpredictable the same cannot be said for Roots."
If this is the case then relying on bluffs makes them predictable. Not that you now exactly when the bluff is coming, but you know it'll be there at some point.
Not that I think you do have to rely on bluffs with mono GHEISt, nor that they're unplayable, just weakened enough that your tactics really need to be sharp, sharper than normal, to make a dent in the higher tiers.
Maybe if they get another good 4/5*, it'll just get banned again, eventually turning into a perma-ban.
Besides, their use in half-decks for their high power and decent damage (4 damage is good enough) is fine. Many of them even have Attack Manipulation.
If you have room, Amanie is decent. Maybe even Lou too. Though neither of them are Ratanah, if one was, the price would be high, and would probably just take a ride on the ban cycle (and not come off)
To me, it's not that Roots is bad, it's just that we're expecting too much. Besides, you can annihilate with Shakra and Ratanah in t2.
