Which Clans do you have?
Most attack manipulation Clans seem to be the easiest to use for Daily Tournaments - Junkz, Sentinels, Montana, Uppers are common.
Paired up with Power manipulation Clans, they work better, if you get good hands - Bangers and All Stars are more common.
With a bit more skill, you can run any low-starred deck of your liking effectively. (See FAST IS FUN's Pirana deck for confidence. )
You mean Type 1 and Type 2?
Well, no. For optimal performance, it is advised you play in Type 2 with a 26* deck though.
Type 1 is good in terms of point-net per match, but ultimately would likely lose to pace with the Type 2 players - unless of course you are a DT beast!
I got roughly 340 points with an ELO Piranas deck placing about 15th once. I was playing in a DT, I was just using my ELO Piranas deck.
As Yami said, FIF proved that you can indeed win a DT with a Piranas deck.
A lot of people use two decks. As far as I remember, FIF's theory is to play in T1 to quickly get 100 points and then go T2, I think.
In T2, you can rack up a lot of easy points by bashing newer players who have decks with bad 4* and 5* cards in them; in T1, if you play the right style of deck, you can overpower your opponents by playing an overpowered T1 deck. Right now, for example, I play a Skeelz/Uppers T1 deck using Jackie and Caelus. Even though Zatman is a massively overpowered 3*, I don't use him because I'm not willing to take the -4 bp for playing both Jackie and Zatman.
An argument against using penalty cards in T1 is that your "weighted" star count appears to influence the matching algorithm, so you're going to be matched with other people who are "over" the star limit pretty often, even early in the DT.
