Before we start to make deep changes in the ELO mode, we want to make the most of summer to validate some of our ideas. You may know that we want to see the list of staff banned characters get bigger and use these bans not only to make the game more balanced but also to make it funnier and invite you to have more variety in your decks. That’s why, during August, the staff banned characters list will really increase. Each week some changes may be possible. Don’t hesitate to give your opinion on the forum and tell us what you think about these changes.
Here list of the characters which will be banned by the staff from next Monday (08/02) :

Changes go into effect in 3 days, check the original post.
Also if we're discussing the value of this change then the difference between perma-ban and weekly ban lists are crucial. If this whole list is perma-bans then I think the change is god awful. If it's mostly weekly bans then I think it might be a workable change. So to me, it makes all the difference in the world.
I feel like the admins are being somewhat shady about this change, giving us incomplete information and then asking us to comment on it.
If there really is a well thought out plan then let's hear it.
A lot of questions are still outstanding.
First for me is which cards are banned for which reason? If there's 2 reasons to staff ban a card, then there should really be 2 lists. Then, if cards are being weekly banned for shake-up reasons rather than balancing reasons (like Nanook, Bristone, and Noodile) then how long will they be banned? Is it set or will it be at the staff's discretion? Will there be some kind of a "card wont be banned 2 weeks in a row" rule? Will announcements of weekly ban lists be made prior to the ELO week (like this list) so players can prepare in advance?
Either the staff has no idea and is just testing on the go, or they have thought things out and aren't being forthcoming with information. I don't like either case personally.
XU52 is way better than Lin Xia. Lin Xia's damage is, under normal realistic conditions, capped at 8. XU52's damage is the same, but he doesn't have to worry under conditionals, which is much better. XU52 beats Lin Xia pill-for-pill until 7 pillz (who pills 7 on a regular basis, anyway?) Just look at Roots. Almost everyone uses Lou over Ojibway, and Lou is worse than XU52 (-attack with min lower than 3 beats out +attack, since it can beat other -attack cards at 0 pill... XU52 forces even the great Jackie to one pill, while Lou doesn't) while Ojibway is superior to Lin Xia. Get what I'm saying?
Shadow listen i appreciate the argument that you are trying to put together
to say that ppl will simply switch to the tier 2 cards and continue to play a clan is simply false. now i dont know how good of a player you are, but doing this (using tier 2 cards) will result in tons and tons of loss (and by the way Tyd is tier 1 card and not simply a replacement for Smokey)
ive played this game enough to understand that I cannot simply put in Andsome for Smokey or Alexei for Striker or Methane for Toro
its simply not that simple. The ELO meta game is a bit like an ecosystem... you make a change in one clan... it has impact on other clans.
For example.... with an expected decline of Gheist and Roots (due to them losing some staple for the time being)... I would not bother using Glosh in a Rescue deck. i would opt to run Suzie instead. Suzie is a far more dangerous cards for the rest of the UR cards. Methane instead of Toro or Wardom instead of Rolph will have a harder time overcoming the Rescue bonus.
new cards and new bans open up possibilities for some cards. simply replacing the staple with 2nd tier cards wont do... because other deck possibilities open up that will be superior -- just a matter of finding them
the current list -- we all see Bangers will probably be the most common.... but as i said, i've manage to put together several new decks (using some cards ive never really used seriously) that should be able to go toe to toe with Bangers and win the majority of games
@re-peat, wow dude read som of the earlier posts, thisd has been in the cards for weeks bro, they've been talking about it for ages. elo was getting stagnant so they want to mix it up, bring in cards like jackie or kolos or vickie , every now and again, so that we don't just run the same allstars or rescue deck every week, making slight changes when we lose a staple. this is just the begining, they are going to change it around every week or two. also that part of your question concerning ttwo types of staff banned cards doesn't make much sense, but i assume that you know that the cards are treated as weekly banned so that we don't lose points in dts.
anyways sorry for the rant
