I haven't been on in a while, but recently i have been playing elo and am trying to get back into it. My question is though, what is the benefit of leaving a fight in the elo mode? i don't understand why someone would do that and it happened to me a couple times in a row from experienced players - they assume they cant win after a few moves and then just quit. Is there any kind of gain in the ELO mode for abandoning a lost cause rather than waiting it out? if i remember correctly, you get a penalty for leaving a fight. Hope my question reaches the right people thanks
There isn't any mention in the rules I've read through that the battle points earned from a game affect your ELO score after a game. I know they affect the score you get in a Daily Tournament, but I don't think they affect ELO that way- I think you just gain or lose rating as normal. And if your opponent is as high as they want to be- like me, I play ELO where leaders are banned and I don't really care about my level- than the BP loss doesn't affect them and in fact early leaving can be beneficial as if the board is a completely lost cause they can start a new game that much faster. And by starting new games faster, they play more games- so if they know they're pretty good that means their ending ELO will be higher for it.
If you leave you lose ELO points and don't gain any battle points/clintz but you do finish the fight quicker so you can go straight onto the next fight if you impatient. So there is not actually any gain unless you very impatient.
