My guild has the guild market bonus active. Now, it is only a small bonus (20%) which should translate to Kate taking 4% instead of 5%. But actually that small difference is huge.
In the market, the winner is the one who offers the best price. Having even that 1% difference is a huge edge. I can now offer a lower price than everyone who doesn't have that bonus and still make the same profit. In the long run, I will complete more successful transactions and end up making a lot more.
This is the only actual market advantage and being the sole advantage in an otherwise balanced field, it is huge.
I agree that 1% is a huge advantage in the market. Those of us who do not have that 1% cannot possibly hope to compete equally. We are losing clintz, we are getting kicked out of our homes, we are forced to choose between groceries and rent, we are denied quality medical care. We are playing the market for long hours with little pay and no rights, if we're playing at all. We are getting nothing while the other 1 percent is getting everything.
We are the 99 percent.
Its not too powerful, but it is very powerful in the long run.
I crudely simulated some re-investing scenarios starting from the 10000 clintz with and without the tax reductions, and assuming incomes of -5% - 25% per each investment cycle (aka - re-invest everything you got.) & some additional income between the cycles.
It turned out after about about 80 cycles those schemes with tax reduction would have about 25-60 million clintz, while the others without would have only made 15-25 million clintz. Thats the power of interest over interest. This leverage happens only on repeated investements in really long continuum and the effect adds up painfully slowly.
And - so far my investments have averaged income of atleast 15% per investment, lowest being about 3% after reductions.
So, giving 1% advantage to others would make those figures 14% average and 2% minimum because of competition.
I dont see my empire being destroyed by this.
