Last Tuesday, the Sentinel called the managers of the Deathmatch room in for questioning in Clint City. These individuals are suspected of trafficking drugs, confirmed Judge Scare.
Investigations are in progress and the room will very shortly be closed to residents of Clint City!
So hurry up and complete your last missions before it’s permanently closed down!
Shortly after eagleeye said that relatively nobody came here saying that DM should be closed sooner, here come some people saying that exact thing. Daxose & rb2008, I believe that it's not the mode itself that people care about, but the missions, in a sense. Yes, there weren't always that many players in it, but maybe that was because people played DM for mostly its missions, rather than fast leveling-up, since, as you said, after lv50, there's no incentive to go up anymore... you just eventually do, but you don't really care (aside that, maybe the symbolic lv100 is somehwat of a milestone worth achieving, but not much apart from that). I'm saying that it was, perhaps, more of a leisure mode, as opposed to a highly competitive one (it used to be that too, in its infancy).
However, IMO, still not something worth removing partly. I said it before and I'll say it again, it's illogical to make a mode go away and leave bits of it behind. If something needs to be removed, it should either be erased completely, or not at all. Half-measure actions don't cut it. And yeah, I saw it mentioned somewhere here, what happens to the past missions that required DM? Will it still say DM if it's gonna be removed? Yes (I mean, Cleo's NB mission still displays a requirement of winning LP with a Rescue, whereas it only works with the said card, and therefore, should say "with Cleo"... but that's another story that also includes missions having the same title - look in Jungo & Bangers). Anyway, it'd look stupid to see that someone's once completed a mission in a mode that no longer is. That'd just express a feeling of work badly done by the game developers. You can't just leave bits of what UR calls a non-success, if you consider it that way. I speak from the standpoint of the UR player concerned with missions, above most other things, so all I'm posting on this thread is the opinion of such a player, which I am (maybe not all UR mission-lovers share my thoughts, but I'm positive that whatever they think, it can't be too far from what I've been writing here).
Steel, my only concern with UR this entire time was how the missions would have been handled. Outside of the missions, there is no way I can see a case being made for keeping this thing afloat.
To test new decks? - Fight Club or Tourney (just don't try in that particular DT, you can still play and test out a deck - or, crazy thought, play during a non-DT hour)
To gain a lot of XP? - valid up to level 50
To play fast-paced matches? - DT
This mode averaged single-digit players throughout an entire day. No one played it. Suddenly, now that it's getting removed, everyone's love for DM peaked? The people who are crying for this mode to come back are the same people that COULD have played DM (and helped keep it alive), but chose to play in DTs or Survivor or ELO....
Maybe it was because they wanted the rewards DT, Survivor, and ELO gave them, and that's fine. Their complaint can center around how DM's rewards were subpar.....but if you stepped away from the rewards and played the game for fun, then DM would still be here. Alas, it's going away....I'm glad to see a new game mode. DM was fine when I was level 30, now? Good riddance.
I think the reason people didn't play was for two reasons. One, the prizes were not that impressive. Given the choice between dt prizes and deathmatch prizes, really not a comparison. Second, when people tried to play deathmatch, no one was there. I think the program that sorted people into different deahmatchs was not written right. I know that several times, I got put into a deathmatch with zero other people, when there was another one with people in it. That was definitely a problem. I think a good solution to keep it would have been to have a waiting room type thing, where you waited until either 16 people were ready to go, or 10 minutes had passed, or something. Another thing would be to charge an entrance fee, may 200 clintz and give a gold token to the winner silver to the second and bronze to third. Play with the exact number however to want, but something like this would get me to play more.
"No9) Deathmatch had no use as xp and prizes can be won from tokenz and the solo mode so the admins are removing it ."
"Outside of the missions, there is no way I can see a case being made for keeping this thing afloat."
Imagine... some really play it just for the fun of it. DM is always good for a quick round. Fast paced matches (way faster than DT with all ist slowplayers) and not too much to think about it made it a really relaxing mode.
And why do you declare lvl 50 to be the upper limit until playing DM is vaild. Think outside the box... because that's not true for quite some people who really try to lvl up as fast as possible (no matter if there are no wins for leveling up).
And one more reason.: They play DM to play cards like Zatman or Lyse Teria Cr in a mode where they actually are worth playing (not like the Fightclub). And what do you do with (especially) those two cards now? Two of the best3* cards have no sense anymore when DM is gone.
