The market for the merchandise is too small.
You have maybe 10,000 players. Many wouldn't buy anything or wouldn't see it or don't want to pay for the game. Then there would be the people who don't want the figures.
For the non UR people they would have to sell that cheaply because other companies do that so to them its just another figurine. Everybody has a different favourite as well so they would want that one.
I think the best way to do it would be to do cheap, small collectible figures for every card. What would be cool is if you could choose packs like get one with random AS,uppers riots or raptors for example
And make crs rare to get. Also they would need to advertise it

Tshirts can be done cheaply and would not need a kickstarter
boostr is looking for kickstarter funding --- they are aiming high here --- but i cannot help but feel that this is a hail mary -- go big or go home move on their part. If it works, they save it. If it fails, they end up in a worse place than were they were

Imperator - Immortality
I'd put 4 characters from a clan on a piece of merchandise... mono deck style... there's so many combos tho

@Wasteroftime:
This was just meant to be a quick survey about which characters are the most "photogenic" for the project, so it's probably much, much too early to draw assumptions as to how effective it would be or why it was planned without further information.
The very general idea (which is still subject to modification, of course) are figurines that would be packaged with codes for packs of cards (and in some cases, the specific card that the figurine depicts.) These would be sold as collectible pieces that give a new player a good foothold in the game instantly. They would be sold in hobby and comic shops (especially in EN-speaking countries, where UR is underexposed.) This would introduce UR to a largely untapped audience... Meanwhile, for those who are not terribly familiar with Kickstarter, it's also a platform designed to generate additional exposure for the product, and offering great incentives to early adopters. A nice Kickstarter would itself be a potential way to generate some new attention for UR. Furthermore, as Kickstarter is a way of backing project through crowd funding, it will not be costly.
"you can somewhat forget appealing to those who are still here.... we have stuck it out despite things not looking like they are on an upward turn for the past few months/years. " I think that's a highly subjective matter at this point. In the last few months, a lot of things have been polished out. Communication is in a much better place, to the extent that even the Ld announcement are getting praise for their quality of writing. RB cards are in a place where most of the game is happy with them, as is Leader Wars. A new website and graphic overhaul are incoming, although a bit slower than we originally planned. Arcade mode and Urban Collector app are well in development. I think many players are in agreement that the trend in UR right now is one of steady improvement, and our metrics back that up.

I remember those days where theres no such thing as "no opponent found". And now where down to almost 3000 0nline players. bummer. UR is a great game, so what happened years back that made the players to not to play? i think they needed something new. Not a new clan. Not the diversification of cards. And not something new to the gameplay. I think they simply outgrew the math of UR. they needed something from UR aside from its gameplay. The colection is one thing. So how about a merchandise? Sure. But Kolos figurine is long gone. Im just hoping that this new punch of UR not only attracts new player but let the old player stay and not get bored out of it.
one more thing. Stick to the story. Dont just create new stories for the cards but also continue the old ones, like, where is Kolos now? If he did leave the city then he should be CRd. Thats the rule anyway. We are loving the connections of each individual cards now, make a story out of it. If you have the time to make new cards and new clans, and the a fucking leisure to redesign cards (RB) then Im sure you also have the time to make a new comics. Cheers UR.
Once the merch and other development is release, make sure to make the all the players and possible prospect to say "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!"

UR t-shirts would be awesome! Imagine a black shirt with a character like X-0dus, Magnolia or Shann on the middle with on the sleeve Urban-Rivals.com spelled with orange letters or something. I totally would buy one of those xD
