Hello Urban Rivals players,
During the last week we discussed about how to modify the ELO ban list.
But many players pointed out that more radical changes need to be done.
This is why we want to do a brief survey with you, proposing 3 ways to modify ELO mode in the future. Based on your choice, we will work in that direction only, so your advice is crucial here.
Your task is easy: to select option A, B or C.
Of course, you are welcome to write your opinions in the comments.
Here is a small summary of the 3 propositions:
A) ELO with ‘Points’
Every card will have a point value between 1 and 25. The stronger the card is, the more points it will have.
The points will change every week thanks to an algorithm. It will take many factors into account: how much the card is played, how many times a match is won thanks to that card, and so on.
A deck will have a restriction of maximum 25 stars and maximum 100 points. No doubles, no semi-evolved cards.
This mode will permit every card to be played in competitive matches. You can decide to pick a rather bad card to be able to play stronger cards. Playing a low-point card like Ricardo, for example, could make space to play a high-point card, like Vickie Cr.
The choice of how to balance your deck will be entirely yours, with no cards banned at all.
Everything is free… at a price!
The algorithm will change the value of the top and less used cards every week, so the format will be in a state of constant evolution. Most importantly, it will be the players who will decide these changes, just by playing in this mode!
B) ELO with ‘Banned and Limited cards’
The mode will have a list (to be determined) of banned cards. This list will feature only few characters, the most powerful of the game: Jackie Cr, Graksmxxt, excetera.
In addition to this little list, a new bigger one will be added: a limited list.
Only 1 card among the cards of this second list will be able to be played in your deck. For example, if you include the first card from this list in your deck, you will not be able to add any of the other limited cards.
The players votes will remain, but the cards chosen by you won’t go in the ‘banned cards list’, but in the ‘limited cards list’ for that week.
C) ELO with ‘Banned cards only’ (what we have now)
We will keep a ban list only, more or less similar to the one we have now. Adjustments to it will be done every 3/4 months.
We may try small changes to the deck format (for example, to limit to one the number of lv 5 cards in your deck, or to modify the number of stars in the deck), but nothing too ‘drastic’ like the other two propositions.

@ 0AL Rush, you are of course right that such decks would probably not fare that well and I appreciate your attempt to allay my fear...
But they would still sometimes occur. And I would claim it is a travesty if any of Graks, Jackie, or Lyse see the light of elo again irrespective of deck success. One only has to look at how DTs are ruined by noobs running 39*s and winning individual battles by sheer weight of hand, yet still losing the Tourney. Sure you might beat them more than half the time, but those 1/4 of times they beat you due to an unfair hand, it makes you want to throw your computer out the window. So it will be in the A model of elo.
I sincerely hope that this change is just a phase and the community will see the unfair games that will ensue
I'm salty so when this thing comes out. You can be sure I'm going to run Ambre and enjoy trolling everyone (~50% of the time).
You could make her 70 pts and I would still run her and rape everyone.
I'm just going to slap on the rest like a bunch of almost for sure no one will use cards like Borss and Anton.
Maybe even throw in Morlha.
I hope people join me so then UR will be forced to stay unchanged.
I feel like we still have some misunderstandings about the basics of this system. Hopefully these can be cleared up during a trial.
For all of the people who think they will simply be able to run a deck with a bunch of solid but less common cards, and so have access to powerful cards which are ELO banned now... It's not going to work that way. The price for including OP cards in your deck is going to be very heavy, and creating a deck with something OP without a very good plan is going to be more of a disadvantage than a benefit.
There is no possibility of a Lyse Oscar Spiaghi hand. Spiaghi is an amazing card and Oscar isn't bad either, despite his vulnerability to SoA. The point values for those cards is not going to be low.
I think this game mode is interesting, like of course the first weeks are probably going to be chaotic because some cards will be way to worthy to run in your deck but at the same time it's cool because it'll make people run cards like ricardo Ogoun Kyu and dacha macha just to find a way to put broken cards, lots of players saying that if jackie cr Dj korr cr and others come back to elo it will destroy the mode but actually it makes the mode more impartial because it will be the players matches and not their opinion using an election system to ban cards that will mold the elo each week.
The only questions i have are:
1-Is this new elo going to be updated every week?
2-Is it possibly with this system to reach a point of relatively high stability?(apart from the new cards the others just changing 1 or 2 points from a standard value)
3-You are going to look just at the card performance alone or do you plan to put in the math the cards and clans they are more effective played with/against?
You make Ambre 70 pts, I still have room for 7 cards worth total 30 pts total.
Going by http://i65.tinypic.com/24ziph3.jpg I can still use Katsukai, Kimberly, Dan, Frank, Mikki, Bhudd and Lewis.
3 + 3 + 5 + 5 + 3 + 4 + 6
Given Ambre lets me have +3 power and a -2 power from all stars bonus, im going to kill peeps unless they all run SOB.
You going to need to make the op cards worth like 70 pts and even the weakest cards even worse than kimberly worth at least 3 or else trolls can easily overcome this system.
Ogoun Kyu should be worth 3 pts by himself to really stop me.
And I'm sure UR is going to figure out a way to make OP cards worth too much to create a viable deck with.
Not to mention, I'm sure Ambre will be one of the limited # of cards that's banned in the end. I don't think they'll let every single card run around.
And with all that said, you can still troll with the deck you mentioned above and you'll find yourself below a score of 1000 and possibly ticking off only a couple of low-score players with average decks by beating them. Otherwise, good luck drawing Ambre each hand as it's hard to troll when you draw Mikki, Kimberley, Katsuhkay, and Bhudd
