"This means some of those people will probably end up voting twice"
Doubtly so: they pull new poll on same link as FR one, that means old poll is deleted and replaced with new one, which is a good move, better late than never, but still good.
@Don Jubas: Well, what I was referring to is that Waster started a thread in General "exposing" the French version of the poll and telling people how important it was to immediately go vote there. If they did that, and subsequently voted in the new poll, their votes are counted twice, even though the old poll was deleted. Anyway, it distorts the data.
So this is an example of how Waster had a good motivation (to ensure that our community had a say in the RB matter) but because he acts out of frustration and expects the devs to do the worst, it caused some issues. Not huge issues by any means, but this a long-standing pattern, a bad approach to trying to change the game for the better.
@Six Turkeys: I agree. I think it's really important for both the developers and the players to work at building a good, trusting, mutually beneficial relationship here. I would love to let the matter rest and start doing just that.
It's not, though.
The old poll was created for the French community, was in French, and was presented to them.
We can assume this poll was created for the EN community, since it's in English.
I'm betting the results of the old poll were recorded and are considered as a representation of what the FR community wants, and the results of this new poll will be recorded and will be treated as a representation of what the EN community wants. There may be other, separate polls for the other large communities. Because a bunch of EN players went and voted in the FR poll, the overall data gathered by the devs will be less accurate and informative.
I suppose we can speculate about the actual outcome all day, but the reality is that the devs wanted to collect data in one way, and Waster's action muddied that data (even as we received a positive outcome through constructive dialogue.) Waster's thread regarding the poll shows that he understands what he's doing, it starts with:
"Have your say even especially since you werent asked "
IMHO if Boostr were to do as Waster suggests, put emotions and empathy aside, and act "more like a business," their first act should be to remove the guy shouting, kicking, and breaking stuff. Maybe a little leniency is due if he's able to calm himself down first.
