PS: Actually, the fact that he is shot is well linked with his ability: he is shot (loses the round), but he still manage to protect his comrades (support: damage reduction).
PS2: The clan already has a 8-1 1* card (Fletcher), we don't want to give multiple strong 1* to a clan.
PS3: The levels continue the story of Captain Rescue as well. After he is shot... well, check Captain Rescue ; ) this card explain the origins of the captain
PS4: Every clan who doesn't have it already will receive one very strong 5* in the future. Sentinel will get one as well, so don't panic

I think Slade is OP card with no mode that fits him perfectly at moment.
If there still was old T1 suvivor, he would be a beast there.
ZPalace elo? Playable, but to be fair, you will not play sentinels mono, so 5/3 is the best shot for him.
Surv T3- Kinda playable, but risky to use 2* in surv3 and monosentinels are not meta right now.
DT - you can use him in DT, 8 power for 2* with sents bonus is solid for DT and you can definitely play him as round winner or wall in need.
So, generally, he is great, but it's not the best time for him if we look at current modes.
