This idea came to me recently again as I begun playing UR after a hiatus. Would it be possible for the staff to implement a raise on the maximum entrance fee amount available on Events as a quality of life update? This would benefit a variety of events from high risk lottery entries to WOP's.
The 15k Clintz cap was implemented when events where first created over 10 years ago, back when 15 000 Clintz was worth a lot, lot more than it is now with the market inflation. Considering this I think its fair to say that a request for an increase wouldn't be without a basis.
I can't see any downside to this other than the possibility of players taking percentages their own prize pools and profiting off their own events, but even then people who join events are agreeing to the ruleset implemented by the creator, and even the voting system for distribution of prizes acts as a protection against abuses of this. This could also really help the WOP situation, with having a fourth player or mediator in the event making it so if a player loses he is forced to pay the WOP instead of simply just being able to ignore his debt. An increase to 100 000 Clintz I believe would be fair especially with most players in the community having substantial collections.
I would appreciate feedback on this thread, regardless of your position. If you agree let me know and if you have a reason for why this shouldn't be requested from the staff, please also give me your opinions.
I agree! Having a max entry fee seems like a confusing feature that doesn't really accomplish much.
On a side note, if we were to have no max entry fee, we could start having some Super High Roller Events, with buy-ins of 5m+. I'm sure there would be some players that would absolutely love it.
I still think that having a maximum entry fee should still be enforced, but I can agree to some extent that maximum entry fee could be higher than 15K given inflation in Tourney to up to 25K in my opinion if it should be considered. But overall, I am fine with the 15K max entry fee we already have.
My concern is the potential abuse that players can use. Moderators take action against any lottery where the creator can profit from the entry fee and it is advisable for players to not participate the events. Even if the event was not intended to be a scam there is a possible issue of the event creator being inactive to continue an event. In such a case, the event creator might not reimburse the entry fees which is a big risk especially if you spend say 100,000+ Clintz in an event.
Outside the scamming perspective, a lot of events I used to play from Boss an ex UR Admin had entry fees between 0-10K and were popular. I do not necessarily think event entry fee is a measure of event success and there are some good events that offer a lot of prizes at low entry fees and attract players as a result. In addition, some consideration to the state of events in other communities can be considered as majority of what I see are lotteries or 5-10K entry fees on community battling events. With that in consideration, I do not see how increasing the maximum entry fees make a difference there besides giving more options to the cost of entry.
Regarding WOPs, I wish to have no involvement. I can only suggest that the prizes be paid to a third party who is a Mediator/Operator/Moderator/Event Team who is not in the same Guild as either player beforehand. By paying to them beforehand and confirming that both sides paid, this will work better than an entry fee in the sense that the limit can be ignored.

@Rowdy, I agree with everything you've said but even so its known that lotteries can not yield host cuts of the jackpot, and I imagine that rule would remain in tact. This could also easily be countered by having the option for host cuts to be removed entirely before players can join. What I mean by that is that a host must state whether or not he intends to take any of the jackpot BEFORE players can even enter.
In regards to the inactive events costing players their entrance fees I really feel like this can be easily countered by the "Start by:" feature on the events. If an event does not begin by its start by date, it is closed and all players receive their entrance fees back. I know this would take some fine tuning to the events themselves but I really feel like it would work out great for the event community.
Bringing this back to what Yurieu stated, this game itself undoubtedly in an economic inflation towards what it used to be, the same as any games with their own economy that have lasted 10+ years, because of this players have more money than ever and this could really be a chance for them to get a chance to safely play with it. Large stake tournaments held with hundreds of thousands of Clintz would make the events undoubtedly more exciting and could be a great chance to reignite the event community towards what it used to be.
Games like Runescape and World of Warcraft have also both heavily profited in activity by giving their players a safe way to gamble their earnings in game. There are sole communities held for the high risk high rewards style of games and although it might take effort I still don't see a downside to this kind of implementation. There is only so much event creators can do with the format and boundaries they are given.
There are many many more ways around the scamming and inactivity problems that may arise. A prize list bank like the guild bank could secure prizes are given unless all players are refunded their entry fees, ect. ect.
