It takes quite an effort to reach the top 100 in ELO. And even then, only the top 25 get significant guaranteed rewards. Given that nearly 10000 people are playing in ELO every week now, I think the prize system needs to be re-thought. In particular, it seems to me that there should be a more proportional prize pool for the clintz in the tournament. Right now, a person receives the same prize for an elo score of 1300 that another gets for a score of 1050. On weeks that I have time for ELO, I put effort into trying to get up to that top 100, but most weeks, I feel very little incentive to keep playing after I get comfortably over 1150. If there was a real difference in how many clintz you got between, say, 1200 and 1300 ELO, you'd have a real reason to keep playing even if you don't think you can make it into the top 100. Of course, if there's a real reason to keep playing, then the prize pools for ELO will get higher and higher, ultimately making the top prizes more clintz than they are now even though they will be a smaller percentage of the prize pool.
I suppose I could PM this repeatedly to Admins and Moderators, but I think this is worthy of some discussion on official forums. What does everyone think?
I have to agree with JP and PLAY-FAST..
and..regarding people who routinely get into the top25..it's just they put much more time and effort in ELO than others..it is not their fault that they dedicate themselves to ELO more than the majority of players here..as for rewards, I think it's ok as it is..putting up more than the current rewards allotted for ELO would be unnecessary..
and come to think of it..ELO is a week-long tourney wherein its main purpose is to gather players up for competition and fun aside from the chance in getting CRs for the top placers..aren't Crs a good enough incentive to try and reach higher ranks? as for rewards..it's 10 Crs already plus 30 rares..trust me, the present state of things is really waaay better than it was before..if people prefer 1300 scores it's up to them, it's their choice..no one's complaining and no one sure is stopping them..it's just some people prefer to aim higher..thus we have our best ELO players..ELO requires time and dedication..
some people don't like the weekly ELO rewards for clintz and credits, but hey..there are actually 12 DTs a day..more than enough to get you credit/s and a good amount of clintz if you place high..more than what you'll get in ELO..people say they don't have time for ELO..not the fault of other players right? there are DTs every after an hour..you can get a credit and some decent amount of clintz there..there are different rooms out there..
Agree w. sven w/ post #23, especially this part of the message from HaveOne "let me tell you something,i play over almost 10 hours just ELO,Yet i keep loosing and loosing on this Rescue, but i never gaved up,You can treasure all the money and cards you get,but i treasure all the battles that i almost lost" I can't believe sven loses to some Rescue out there hehe
Yes. fraggle's explanation was very appropriate. i agree with all the Pro-ELO. people, just accpet the fact that making ELO easier will ruin the game rather than make it better.
1. randomization of prizes ensure that no cheating will be done.
2. Proportionate clintz depending on your rank is a just reward.
3. players are still people. they may be good players, but they can still lose. it's just that they win more games than losing. That's what u call skill.
4. banning of cards/clans "trigger-happily" is not the solution to every problem. it needs proper research before one can truly conclude that a card/clan is really game-breaking
lastly, you should be very thankful that the game rewards you at least 2 credits just for doing "well" in ELO. show some love for the admins and the game
My feelings on ELO. I absolutely disagree with increasing the prizes to lower ranking finishers. This might mean that more people will play, but I feel it will be the wrong type of player. ELO is supposed to be for the elite players, this is highest level of competition. If everybody starts playing in ELO, then it won't mean as much. It will be like a daily tourney, where you might not fight a decent deck until your fifth opponent. Would I like a quicker way to win Collectors? Yes. But think what that would do to this game. It can't be easy or else Collectors would be all over the place, and then really what's the point?
