As you know, we make modifications regularly in order to make the game better for everyone.
So, as of Monday, the daily tournaments will change:
2 (perhaps 3) new formats will appear with the following rules: no doubles, not more than X stars, and not less than X stars.
It is much less restrictive than ELO mode, but still ensures certain balances exist between players Decks.
Addition of special rooms:
New special tournament rooms will be created for each of the new formats (not required for players of very low and high level). These rooms will be available at all times but matches will count towards tournaments only when a tournament is in progress (like the current system).
Withdrawal of the other rooms from the tournaments:
The matches in the other rooms will not count towards tournaments (even when a tournament is in progress). This is so that everyone plays under identical conditions during the tournaments.
- Lowering of level up bonus during the tournaments:
These changes are being made so that tournaments are played in a “combative” spirit and the rules of Urban are not twisted, giving an advantage too strong on certain types of “way of playing”. The bonus for leveling up a character during the tournaments will be reduced from 5 points per level at 2 points. This isn't meant as a punishment for people who played with certain styles.
This is a great move, I'm sick of playing against players that use level 5 characters for every character in their deck during tournaments or people that keep using multiple kinds of the same cards, it just wasn't fair in the past. Seems like too many players were afraid to play elo legal decks because of opponents who played with all high level rares.
Regarding Sure Shot... this is big mistake. why to have all those bonuses, abilities and leaders specials, when you don't need to use them anymore? when I am not playing non-random, I think much less about the moves, hence you cannot guarantee the result. I was calculating a lot before, and damn, how often I won by 1 attack point... now, it doesn't have any sense... and therefore I am about using 2 times 6 pillz tactics on the strongest cards and hope for Sure Shot... pretty stupid, isn't it?
after month playing this game, I blieve that mastery of Urban Rivals is in calculations... please, don't spoil it... now every minldess mind is capable of winning a tournament...
HELL GUYS, DON'T WEEP ABOUT FULL DECK OF 5stars PLAYERS. THEY ARE NOT THOSE WHO WIN TOURNAMENTS!!! THE POINTS THEY CAN GET FOR A GAME IS VERY LOW. THE MOST OF THE TOURNEY WINNERS ARE LIKELY POWERPLAYERS USING UPPERS (AND SAKROHM SOMETIMES) BUT 2, 3, 4, 5stars CARDS. THEY WILL STILL BE ABLE TO FIGHT IN THE SAME MODE AND WIN TOURNAMENT. THIS CHANGE WON'T HELP ANYTHING...
and admins, can you write some clear justification for new rules? why you believe that these particulars rules might eliminate unfair practices? so we can discuss every reason you have...
Well as they say you can never have it all. We wanted something new. We wanted creativity in deck. We don't want to fight or play the same old decks. The new format gave that.
Let's look at the current situation first it is almost random who we fight in a tournament. No problem. Second because doubles is not allowed one cannot increases the chances that he will get the cards that he wants. Solution either put all the best cards in your deck or try to mix and match just to lower your star count. Third the result of a battle between two cards is based on random. Solution try to gamble and prevent the other guy to have a huge different in attack and hope you will be lucky.
Nothing is perfect let's just be happy on what we have.

Randomness takes all the strategic depth from the game. i so enjoyed guessing the pillz my opponent would take (i got quite good at it) and calculate my own need. if i lost non-random games, i knew it was my fault, or my opponent simply played better.
Now, randomness requires me to use so many pillz in order to get a sure shot... or take the completely skill-less route of averaging all my attacks so the opponent won't get the sure shot and hope for random to work in my favor. i've seen a lot of the latter now again, after i was so hopeful playing in non random danger zone.
I realize it only affects tournament play, but honestly, who plays a whole lot on other times (except EVO). Randomness during tournaments is ruining the game for me, and the second possibility (use the non-random ELO room for tournaments) is very, very limited because of the challenge restrictions.
I really do hope for non-random during tournament to come back, because the way it now runs, calculating players, which tend to be the more experienced, active (and often, paying) are punished by extremely hampering their ability to win games by strategy, and boosting clueless players to win by luck.
