After the (chaotic) release of the Standard mode and the first feedbacks, we have taken decisions on several things we want to let your know. We think you will be satisfied with the future improvements we will add first.
• Improvement of the quickbattle system in DTs.
We already made corrections, it seems that the small decks vs big decks problem is far less met. We will keep on working on it until the partition T1/T2 is not a problem any more.
• Penalties on some characters in DTs.
The first 2 points penalties per character are already operational and you can find the list here: http://www.urban-rivals.com/help/?category=9-0
Except for Leader, for the moment there are no penalized Standard characters. It may change, we give ourselves time to analyse DTs.
• DTs divided in two.
Finally we won’t alternate DT’s. We will let you have two DTs at the same time, 1 Standard, 1 Extended. With two different rankings.
• Length of a DT shorten but increase of its frequency.
DTs length will decrease from 1 hour to 45 minutes with a 15 minutes break between each tournament and then you can play again. It means there will be 24 Standard DTs and 24 Extended DTs per day.
To prevent abuses, a limitation of 8 DT credits per day and player will be added (you will receive all other rewards if you play more than 8 DTs).
• Survivor Standard and Deathmatch Standard rooms.
They will be open soon, we are working on an update of the flash game.
Questions you may want to ask:
• The number of CR remain at 5. It might change in the future.
• A PM will be sent to you each evening if you made a top 150 during the day so as to inform you if you have won a collector (or not).
• The timer will be reduced from 60 to 50 seconds again.

if you look at my posts on this thread... i i put " " several times on the word force. i missed it on some, i put it on some.... the intended meaning was the same regardless of how i used it. but enough of the semantics, i doubt any of us are linguists here.
T1 was actually quite competitive to get on the podium. lots of top DT players played in T1
the gap between T1 and T2 is far smaller than the gap between Extended and Standard in term of being competitive
bottom line. Standard alongside Extended competing over the same rewards does not encourage the population to play standard.
I'm sure you mean to say that standard needs to give us some reason to play it to give us the option of playing it for prizes, like ELO. As you know ELO is not forced on anyone at all; there is no 1 hour in UR that says we all have to play in the ELO room or not play at all.
hence my use of "forced"... you want a shot of Cr win... then UR "forces" you to follow ELO format.. or maybe compel is the better word
@wasteroftime - what part of "WILL get seperated" you don't get? Yes, the rankings are not seperate, the length of DT is not changed, and new rooms are not yet open. They WILL be. I mean, how can you talk about the changes to format and do it while completly ignoring the administrator's post that the whole topic is about?
@Rainbow-dash - what do you mean "it's a surefire way to get to the podium"? We can't all get to the podium... Some do, some don't. And it's exactly the same, whever you play Extended or Standard. The only difference is that Standard is new and therefore not yet as well known, winning strategies included.
However, I do agree that people tend to stay with what they already know and are good at. That's why I've been saying, a couple of posts back,. that the two DT's should alter, not play at the same time.

Yes i understand it is being worked on. But the way it stands right now is pretty broken, that is what I am pointing out. The proposed change will improve it, but I am advocating for a bigger role for the Standard format.
are we actually in agreement or disagreement??? as far as i can tell we are actually in agreement that standard needs to stand out more....

I've never won a DT. But I've come in 3rd, and had at least two dozen top ten finishes. I played T1 over T2 all the time, because I found the format more fun. I consider that competitive and lucrative enough. It's not just about prizes, it's about the format being fun.
I don't play DM often, because the prizes exist mostly in the form of BP, which I really couldn't care less about. But the format is fun and whenever I want a change and load DM up or join the room to work on an LD mission that requires it, I have fun because the format is made to be fun. If Standard is 'forced' without any interest in balancing the card list, then I won't play it at all, rewards or not, because it isn't fun to me.
Hugo/Ambre are back-breaking. Eklore/Eyrik/Morphun will usually win when drawn and are very frustrating. Ban the first two and people will abuse these three. I feel these issues need consideration before prize restructuring.
You have an excellent model for Business failure there force on people what they don't want and tell them they are free to not be your customer.
The point is Standard is obviously unpopular, now UR can either try to force this on people and see them go to competitors games, or they can be reasonable and change it to something more popular.
Yes there is a choice of formats and if you are going to play you are "Forced" to go into one of them as has always been the case and some people got borred of these options and left, the new formats are far more restrictive and are making this worse. Now if we follow your prepossed format of make people play only one of these formats then you have an even narrower list of options to choise from with only a few clans playable and a narrower choice of playing styles to use due to these reduced options.
The obvious end result of this is that people will leave in their droves and UR will fail. It is simple business sense that if you try to force an unpopular product on customers you will not do well.
I could not agree more with your posts, very well put and I think you bring up some very real issues. Like you I was a DT player having won a DT and finnished in the top 10 on numerous occasions.
I for now have given up playing, I just don't see the game as fun anymore Standard is a broken format, unless serious changes are made to the card selections it will not work untill we are over 3 years from any clan releases which is over 2 years away. Extended has too few cards penalised, and these not publisised well enough, you run into the same deck time and again. I hope UR fixes the issues that everyone has brought up and doesn't persist I have been playing this game for well over 3 years and it would be a shame to have to walk away now.

yet internet folk always love to find ways to disagree when in essence they actually agree.
i dont recall being against changes with the standard.... im pretty sure ive made it clear it needs change. what it needs is to have a reason to play it
