The UR community seems to have a lot of questions about RB cards. What role will they ultimately play in the game? Will RB always be very rare and expensive? Why were these things implemented in such a manner? Here, we will try to answer all of these questions and more.
Q: What is an RB card?
A: RB stands for ""Rebirth."" They are rare versions of existing cards with the same stats, but alternate art and a blue nameplate to differentiate their status.
Q: The first RB card was really hard to get, and it's very expensive! Are they all going to be like that?
A: In a word, no. RB cards will have varying availability.
Q: I want some RB cards. How can I get them?
A: Each RB card will have a unique way of being awarded. Some will be given as rewards to top achievers in certain modes, others may drop at a low rate from packs. Generally speaking, they will be released in a very limited way, but additional RB cards may be produced at times.
Q: The Leader Wars event in which Nanook RB was made available was very expensive! Will other events that award RB cards be priced similarly?
A: We are considering lowering the prices for many of these events. We have been paying special attention to community feedback regarding this matter.
Q: Will RB cards do anything special?
A: Collecting 100% of normal cards and all RB cards will grant a special new ranking, Phoenix. This rank is higher than Colossus and lower than Divinity.
Q: Why did Boostr decide to introduce such rare items into a game that's supposed to be free to play? They are very difficult to get for an ordinary player. Is it fair?
A: Every online game needs end-game content. Players who have met many of the big goals that UR has to offer will appreciate having another very challenging goal to aim for. This will also forge new relationships between skilled players who are able to win these cards through special events, and superstar collectors. Meanwhile, RB cards don't take anything away from a typical player, as the regular versions of these cards are still readily available at their normal price, and it's possible to enjoy the great new art on these cards without having them in your collection. You can compare them to a foil version of a card in a physical card game.
Q: Should there ever be an Rb card where the original print has either DT penalty and/or Elo ban (Eg Zatman/Zatman Rb), will the Rb edition come with those restrictions already in place or are they treated separately from the first print?
Why was there an Valentine's Week titled event that was scheduled for a maximum of 5 days but only lasted a matter of minutes (maybe an hour?)
No pre announcement. Time zone assisted in many ways
Was this an obvious oversight or actually intended? WIll this be avoided in the future?
how long is Baby Q Rb in the packs for?
and as per jamox
Will Nanook Rb Syd Noze Rb Baby Q Rb be available in the future in other methods?
Rebirths aren't end-game content (EGC), though?
I was under the impression was that EGC was something that could only be accomplished by players who had achieved all else, and is usually an order of magnitude above the rest in terms of difficulty. However, so far Nanook Rb isn't for high-level players; she is only high-level players who were active during the couple of weeks of that Leader Wars run.
That's the key flaw, in my opinion. Rebirth cards are pretty great in theory, except for the fact that they can only be obtained during arbitrary time periods. Only being able to get Nanook Rb for two weeks from a pretty silly Leader Wars run does not make her EGC; it makes her a special event with ridiculously high skills/credits required.
It's likely that some of the RB cards will be available by some other means in the future, but as stated, they will always be released in ways to preserve their limited nature. We're not planning to announce the release methods far ahead of time, as we'd like to keep interest in RB cards high and competition over them fierce.
We haven't come to a decision regarding this yet, but it seems logical that the RB edition will have the same restrictions as the original card. They are designed to create interest for collectors as an item of interest, and to create interest for skilled players as a prize. They are not intended to give anyone an unfair advantage in gameplay.
Can you clarify a little bit? Which event are we talking about?
The Valentine's day announcement has three different components: A Pussycats RB available in packs, a Bangers RB available for a perfect in Leader Wars, and last but not least, Nanook RB for the 10 players who have "reunited the Rebirth couple in their collection." I will try to make sure this last point is clarified, but it's my understanding currently that this offer is valid for players who have the two new RB cards in their collection, not simply anyone who correctly identified the couple on the forum post. As far as I know, the event is ongoing, and only the third component may be completed (but claims of winning have to be verified.)
@TheOPG: I think any generally active player will be aware of the time windows that RB cards are available, and will have the opportunity to act accordingly. We understand that there are cases in which school, work, family illness and so on may keep players from being active at certain times... But this is a restriction which effects any limited-time event in any game, and is not limited simply to RB cards.
As a high level of play skill or a high level of market understanding is instrumental to owning these cards, I think "end-game content" is a great way to describe them.
How long is baby q in the packs for
as for the event
this is the event
The event starts as of now and ends on Sunday 02/15 at 4pm GMT+1. (taken from elocau's post)
the event is the reunification -- we dont have an end date for Baby Q Rb in packs, we know LW is going beyond this.
So one will have no choice but to believe that the time and date above is a reunification time frame.
the timestamp on the orginal post does not seem to make sense, so lets go with the time stamp for the responses
within a few hours there are numerous people claiming they had both
i just went ahead and confirmed they owned the cards now.... by post 50+ it looks like there are at least 10 people within
whether or not they had it at the time of posting or not, or posted first and acquired later --- that i cannot determine.
so within 6 hours all 10 have been claimed. This is a time zone sensitive announcement Good for some, horrible for others
excellent idea, kinda lacking in the delivery/execution
so a event that could have run for 4 days? lasted 5-6 hours? I am thinking UR did not anticipate that is how quickly it would unfold.
