@Guts: "Points is new players are not only catching up in this way, they are actually surpassing your skilled veteran players"
That argument works well on an emotional level, but how about a rational one? How many "unskilled" players are there running around with Big 5 cards, and just how much worse are they in terms of skill? We're not talking about giving a Big 5 as a door prize to every guy who signs up for a UR account, we're generally talking about committed players who play quite well in DTs. In terms of paid offers, this has been the first ever to produce gold tokenz, and out of the hundreds of thousands of active UR players, a couple of handfuls of lucky players won.
A Marlysa Cr won in an event isn't any less special or valuable because someone else won her from the wheel as well, nor has her market value been adversely affected. Last, but not least, I would like you to think far back and remember the old tombola, which used to let absolutely anybody, regardless of level, take a shot at a pricy Cr. This is what the wheel has replaced, requiring that Cr winners can demonstrate a good level of skill in DT rather than winning through "pure luck." I think it's a great compromise between the goals of the different kinds of players that we have in this game, personally.
I'd may as well post my response on here, even though it probably won't matter too much in the longrun:
Wasteroftime summed up half of it, but missed the core issue at hand. Right now, the "main ENG core" is incredibly fragile. They come on every day trying to shed stress, but can't due to all the chaos that happens with what seems to be every other weekly update. CR's and to a lesser extent RB's are a great example of this, as despite the staff saying that they'll never be in packs or are "supposed" to be lucrative rewards, they're made increasingly available through countless promos making quite a few people think that the staff are "out of touch" with the game.
Then there's the whole issue of updates, which in and of itself is a bit of a mess. Excluding new bloods/LDs and the what seem to be bi-weekly events, we've had all of 7 pack-related (I'll call them "LTOs" or "limited time offers" since you're clearly annoyed by the word "scam" ) LTO's, a rebirth concept that failed horribly, and a new Leader all since january. Ask anyone what they'd think if they saw this, and they'd all probably agree that the Admins have either run out of ideas or just generally don't care about this game anymore.
(Part 2 of my message, because 1500 characters isn't enough)
Overall, I'm kinda stuck on this game. I'm trying so hard to care and offer suggestions, but with each passing week it is looking more and more like a lost cause. They say to be a brilliant mind you must first be revolutionary. Ghelas, if you really want to change the english community's minds and get them to start seeing you/the other admins differently, you NEED to do something that not only changes what they think of this game (which trust me, isn't good) but also what they think of you and the admins as a whole.
