Other than the fact that Backlash: is mainly Berzerk's thing, it is because Backlash: was the staff's attempt at making cards with high raw stats and an ability that would punish use but released cards alongside them with 1 or 2 stat differences and abilities that would actually benefit their use or came with no directs drawbacks in comparison to the Backlash: cards. An obvious example of this is Beef and the fact that almost every Berzerk 4* (and most 3*s) would be a direct upgrade from him even if he has superior raw stats, because (unless SoA is taken into account) he is actually tied with Elvis for the lowest Life gap possible of all Berzerk 4*s, but also costs you 2 Life on use while Elvis has SoA.
The only Backlash: card I would even consider using is Cortez, and his ridiculous pricetag is stopping me from buying him. All the other Backlash: cards have either been made obsolete, or have been useless since the beginning. And the cards that were made obsolete didn't have much to go on in their prime. Cards like Beef and Bernie had viable competition within weeks, and were made obsolete easily and cheaply. Backlash: cards need to either have insane raw stats for their levels (Proffer man has better raw stats than Karrion, but holds no water against Pan or Hubert, so they need better comparable stats than that) or their Backlash: ability needs to be negligable, which simply can't happen because the competition between cards won't let it. Unfortunate, really.
Can't tell thoaz, do you mean a cheque or an actual "check" like a check-mark. Also, I'm pretty sure Kolos has that ability. People win with him, but they don't at the same time.
Pretty decent release, kinda. I still really want to see this clan get one of those classic rare-rarity "nukes", as it'd define their direction more clearly. The common 5-star definitely helps though, as it's simple and should hopefully see some use by the newer players.
In unrelated banter, was wondering if the staff are thinking about fixing the whole thing with cards names appearing randomly in chat (like Don appearing when people want to use the word "Don't" ).
From what I can tell (and I'm going purely off of what I've read in Ryujin's ability description) all of those are stopped, but Heal: and Poison: seem to be stopped by the ability only if they're active. As in, Cancel: Life won't be a cheap SoB recoloring for the Freaks, but they will stop the 2 damage from going through if the poison is already active in later turns.
My main question about Cancel: Life I got while making my earlier reply. Does it stop Backlash: ...?! That would be a hilarious and almost unnecessary addition to the ability. Because, I mean, who uses a Backlash: card competitively? (Correction Because, I mean, who can afford Cortez?
I'm also currently waiting for Cancel: Pillz so that I can laugh at Piranas and Junkz with malicious intent.
Preferably a cheque folded into an origami check-mark. And the thing with Kolos is that if you win with him, you still get the win conditions. Confidence on the following round, +1 on winning rounds with Nightmare cards and whatnot. With cancel win it's Revenge for both players on the next turn and no mission progress.
