Build god had a great point that i dont want to get lost in this bs between us
Staff need us to need this game
might be a nasty pill to swallow... but its true. the staff need the paying players in the short term. they need future paying players in the long term.
all im saying is we can all see what they are doing for the current paying players... what is down the road to get some future (possibly some paying) players.
Hey because if this is a community driven/influenced game, then devs should be sharing their tentative long term plans and getting some feedback on it. or do we just say it is community driven for the hell of it? was it always community driven? or did it just become community driven after it got in trouble.
Of course it serves a useful purpose, I'm just curious as to why you're so focused on one particular thing.
My best guess is this: You have a roadmap of your own, more or less. You've mentioned what you think UR should focus on, that you feel a big shift towards player acquisition absolutely needs to happen, and a bit about how that could be accomplished.
So what you really are asking for here is "how much does Boostr's vision match my own at this point?" You've made it clear in the past that you feel Boostr really mishandled a bunch of things, but now you're seeing some improvements... Even reluctantly admitting that they exist. So maybe you want to re-evaluate things, but you don't want to get your hopes up.
Naturally, answering this question on an individual basis for each player is not prudent.
Build god's point is 100% correct, but again, I want to point out that EN is a fraction of the overall UR community. We can't assume that each time we haven't had a lot of direct communication for a few days, that the community has been "abandoned." This is a French game with content generated primarily by a native Italian speaker. It's just plain difficult to respond to everyone at the same time, isn't it?
More to the point, it's not all that hard to get a hold of the staff, well known facts are below:
http://www.urban-rivals.com/player/?id_player=7395710 is the current EN community guy. He is an awesome and responsive dude.
http://www.urban-rivals.com/player/?id_player=3343591 is the guy generating the majority of UR's content, and is incredibly awesome and responsive as well.
Tone down the pitch-forky attitude, message one or both of them, and politely tell them that you feel the EN community would benefit from some update of the current plans. You don't have to mention it in the forums and just hope the right guy stumbles onto the right part of your thread.
No ghelas i wont tell admin directly that i think future players is ultimately the most important resource of this game if this is to ever come off life support.
no, that will not happen dude
besides, i did use to speak with an admin regularly and can definitely say that was as productive as this conversation now.
i can assume they know this anyway. if they dont already know this, then the joke is on all of us
im certain they know this anyway, given a response on a number of players online thread --- which not that long ago a certain former admin said was a waste of time (cough cough)
the question is what is desire AND/OR ability/resources to address this. that is something only they know
as for the expectation that they read forums and pick out ideas. they better be doing that if this is their livelihood. people that run their own business/companies pretty much eat breath and sleep their work. if they arent doing this already again the joke is on us.
"The other thing to consider is that the EN community is not ALL of UR, and that other communities prioritize things differently... Boostr being efficient means addressing everyone's needs and wants, not just EN (it wouldn't be fair otherwise.)"
Favoritism in the EN Community....that's new.
There's still cases where the other communities (FR especially) get news before we do (if we ever do), and that needs fixing too.
@Build God: I agree, but I think it's probably not favoritism at this point (when I was working with Boostr, a real effort was going on to root that out.) I think the more likely explanation is that with the small team size, it's hard to communicate/translate everything fast enough. Here's hoping we'll get to see that change.
@Waster: Let's back up a minute:
"No ghelas i wont tell admin directly that i think future players is ultimately the most important resource of this game if this is to ever come off life support."
Weren't we pretending... I mean insisting, that this was about a request for a road map?
But more to the point:
"as for the expectation that they read forums and pick out ideas. they better be doing that if this is their livelihood. people that run their own business/companies pretty much eat breath and sleep their work. if they arent doing this already again the joke is on us."
I can attest to the fact that a small team like this working to near-exhaustion will almost certainly not have time to comb through all the stuff in the forums. Creating somewhat balanced cards is ideally a full-time job. Maintaining the servers is ideally a full-time job. Directing the freelancers that create the card art is ideally a full-time job. In this case, out of necessity, there's overlap with a bunch of other tasks...
Ultimately, what it all boils down to is that you seem to think that devs owe YOU personally the recovery of UR, and that they should be doing this in a way that meets YOUR standards. If the devs aren't doing what YOU think they should be doing, then they're not doing their job, and they are therefore bad.
I guess that's what really rubs me the wrong way. I don't understand that attitude at all.
