Mandrak, the “defense against the dark forces of the 7 dimensions” teacher spends more time travelling the world plugging dimensional cracks than giving lessons. But his students respect him. After all, it was he who imprisoned Uchtul in the past, and anyway he always brings back strange souvenirs with amazing stories to go with them. But lately, Mandrak’s pupils are a bit worried. He’s strangely grown and more often than not now he ends his classes with a demonic cackle. Milton is wondering whether his teacher’s prolonged contact with putrid dimensions might not provoke the very catastrophe he was trying so hard to avert!

Whether it’s the art of combat, mastering Space and Time, controlling the Mind, Nature studies or Death exploration, nothing is discounted. Not sure if Mandark from Dexter
or Veigar from League of Legends
Or a Dark Mage from Final Fantasy
    or a Mandrake.

The whole shadowy feel about him is giving off a vibe not too dissimiliar to Father from Codename: Kids Next Door. Though that's probably just me.

    Mandrak
    8/6 +3 pillz Max 9

Very pleasantly surprised with this card, did play him ever because I thought he wasn't worth it, however once playing with him he is a great great card

Less predictable than Michael and has some solid solid stats smiley

Definitely a must try for anyone who plays Skeelz

    Note
Mandrak's ability max isn't as much of a hindrance as it may seem, it just mean that your opponent will expect you to put in so many pillz. Example: You play Mandrak with 1 extra pill first round, they're expecting at least 5, they either overpill to counter him, or they deadpill with a dr, either way, you now have either a little bit of damage in, or you're up in pillz.

    Mandrak - 8 Power, 6 Damage.
    (Ability: +3 Pillz, Max 9.)
    (Bonus - Protection: Ability.)

    Pros:
    - 8 power is always nice.
    - 6 Power is decent for a 5-star and allows his to 2HKO with a lot of the other cards in his clan.
    - Mandrak is very effective when used in combination with a bunch of other cards in his clan. Michael or Caelus Cr. You need to pill yourself so that you have 6 pills left, which will let him up you to 9 pills and you start the next round with 10 pills against an opponent whose pill count is similar or slightly higher than yours. Now with Michael who has a power of 10 (w/ courage, possible 13 power if combo'd with Ambre) or Caelus Cr who will reduce your opponent to 2-4 power (likely), it isn't so hard to win anymore. Another strategy I've used before is to win with Mandrak first round and then use Hemdall in the second. This way, the opponent is left guessing whether I will fake or go all in. 6 + 6 Damage = KO.
    - He's cheap (currently) and likely to stay that way. He costs 2000 Clintz whereas his replacement, Hemdall costs 25,000 Clintz. Something to consider for newer players of a budget.
    - The Skeelz bonus means that SoA and SoB have no effect on him (unless you're facing an all-stop, in which case, Mandrak wins pill-for-pill anyway).

    Cons:
    - Mandrak is really a one-trick pony, so to speak. Your opponent knows winning with Mandrak is much more effective than bluffing.
    - Without attack or power manipulation, you'll find it hard to win against cards like Pilzken, El Divino or Spyke. Spyke can reduce Mandrak to 4 Power meaning that he will essentially stop any chance at winning unless you plan on putting in 9-10 pillz. Oh yeah, and there's the matter of those Pesky Ulu Watu and Bangers, Shann blows this guy out of the water.
    - Throw in a Uranus or Zornado and you'll find your 2HKO slip away. Although I guess everyone has that problem.
    - 5 Stars is hefty and with many other 5 star options is Skeelz like Michael, Caelus Cr, Hemdall and Tomas (I could go on), he is not a viable option.
    - Hemdall can fill his role easy, and it'd much easier to use him than it is to use Mandrak. They even have essentially the same stats.

Overall, Mandrak isn't bad at all. Most definitely usable, but he cannot beat out the competition and I wouldn't put him in my "ideal" Skeelz deck.
    I give him 7/10.

    Mandrak....punny name or actual reference?

Mandrak is a funny card, he was one of the first to introduce the new idea of 'maxing' the amount of pillz/life you can get back from your ability. At first glance this doesn't seem to be that big an issue but what I found was it turned mandrak into a one trick pony with no real room to manoeuvre.

Allow me to expand, his max of 9 ensures you will be pilling heavily..why you may ask? Since his max is capped at 9 if you are going to pill you will pill at least 6 pillz! Any less than 4 and his ability takes no effect, meaning you now have a 5* card with no ability which in today's terms makes him an average card. If you pill 4-5 pillz and win you get stuck at the capped 9 pillz and his ability takes 'half effect', it's simply more efficient to maximise your chance at winning and playing those extra couple of pillz.
This means this guy is stuck at either 'pill heavy', which leaves him prone to DR blocks and opponents simply ignoring him to horde pillz for their own nuke OR bluff and deadpill, which other 5* in this clan can do better. Don't forget that Skeelz actually relies heavily on their higher starred cards to do damage, so bluffing with him is detrimental to your own success.

I actually don't like Mandrak much at all, he's a card that can seem to get you an easy 6 damage but it comes with the price of predictability, and simply a wall that opponents ignore thanks to that cap on pillz.

Never pill hard onna first round, let the opps do that first. Win with a couple pillz or bluff on the first rounds till you reach 9. drop 3-6 pillz ,win and maximize the use of his ability.. not a bad card at all

I would have to say that he is similar to veigar because of their bios share some aspects. Originally Veigar was a good yordle curious about exploring outside the Yordle's home bandle city, but after being framed by noxus traders and imprisoned by Noxus authorities(bad guys from an evil city) he was placed in isolation that yordles should never experience driven him mad. Eventually he escaped and hopes to bring peace by bring everyone on their knees under his power.

Both are travelers who became corrupted as a result of their travels

    @ (M) Dreadzone
You are quite wrong, Skeelz bonus is VERY usefull. The only thing that can hurt them is full stop, so their bonus also comes in handy there. Also, there are SO MUCH MORE cards with SOA than you think that have high stats. Hawk, Striker, Jackie Cr, the list goes on and on.
